Onwardsilvercharm - by Desiree Bendell

Onwardsilvercharm was born at Trial By Summer Stables under the watch of the keen eyes of Emily Hufford. She knew her breeding judgment had been very good as soon as the foal stood up and took his first wide-eyed view of his surroundings. This boy showed potential right from day one.

It all started when the mare, Winning Colors was sent to Silver Charm for her next foal. Winning Colors is the dam of many great foals that together earned a total of $15,792,450. With her talent to produce stars, and a great sire to cross her with, he was an anxiously awaited foal.

As a yearling he was put into the Trial By Summer Select Yearling sale and was sold for $25,000 to Ali LaDuke, who raised and trained him as he soared on the track. She started him as a 2 year old with his first race being at Keeneland Park. The race was 4 1/2 furlongs on dirt (this is the surface he would race on his whole career). He blew away the competition and started his career of fame. His next race was at Hollywood park, running the same distance but this time was entered in the Hollywood Juvenile Championship (G3), coming in fifth behind the Sports Jersey, Graduation Year, Fantasize and Hepickedupagallop. Deciding to drop Onwardsilvercharm down a notch, he was next entered in an allowance race, 6f in length, and this time winning and beating the very talented Ready For Apremont. Upping the distance and the challenge, he was next entered in the Hopeful Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Park, making another win to add to his total.

Starting up as a 3 year old, he was first entered in the 1 1/8 mile G1 Bluegrass Stakes at Keeneland. His first race was an excellent beginning to a great year when he came in under the wire well ahead of his competition. From there he went to Churchill Downs for the famous 1 1Ú4 mile Kentucky Derby. Though he didn't win, he did come in a generous third place behind Sports Jersey and Farewell Friend. Next to Saratoga he went, to go on to win the G2 Jim Dandy stakes against Battle's Baby Girl and Tri Star. Another 2 wins to follow after that. The first was the Travers Stakes, winning against Sports Jersey and Dreams Are Forever. The second was when he claimed the win at the Breeders' Cup Classic against Derby Dancer and One In A Million. This finished off his 3 year old career with stats of 5: 4-0-1 for the year, 12: 9-0-1 overall.

His 4 year old career started with the G1 Donn Handicap. With spectators jumping in their seats, they watched as he blew away the competition, Rival Legend and Really Excellent. Next he was off to dominate in the G1 Santa Anita Handicap with ease and moving on to the G1 Dubai World Cup. He claimed this win, placing ahead of Sports Jersey and Battle's Baby Girl. He went on to win the G2 Islein Handicap against Arrogance and Guilty Treasure, and the G1 Woodward Handicap against Bid's Legend and Stone Pass. His last race and win of his career was the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at 1 1Ú4 miles. He flew down the track ahead of Silent Starfire and Go Gray to win by 11 lengths.

His career was solid gold from start to finish always placing very well even against other superstar horses. His final race stats came out as 18:15-0-1 and earned $10,021,200 from racing. He was retired to stud and produced many great foals as of this point in time. His best 3 foals of the present time are Canyon, Courageous and Angelic Voice. Canyon is out of Rain Dancer (dam-sire is Storm Cat). In her career she earned $1,625,400. Courageous is out of Battle's Baby Girl (dam-sire is Battle Cry), who earned $1,592,000 throughout his career. Angelic Voice is out of Angel Fever (dam-sire is Danzig). She made $1,105,800 during her race career. As of week 10 of year 13 on the SIM, Onwardsilvercharm's foals have earned a total of $9,711,290. Currently Onwardsilvercharm relaxes in his pasture with a stud fee of $100,000.
