Steeplechasing is a part of the SIM which gives those "older"
horses something to do. All horses have been scored with a steeplechase
rating, which makes 'chasing a complete wildcard unknown to everyone as
it unfolds. (In the future if you breed a good steeplechase stallion to
a good steeplechase mare, you'll likely end up with a decent steeplechase
horse, the numbers are not random for foals, just for initial generation).
Here is a quick overview of Steeplechasing:
- Chases are available in the United States and Europe.
- There will be a fluctuating amount of races each week to meet initial
demand.
- Steeplechasers must be 4 years old or older.
- All standard rules apply regarding shipping, tiredness, etc.
What about your horses and 'chasing?
- To make your horse a 'chaser, visit the horse's page and click on
"End Flat Racing Career - Become a Steeplechaser"
- Horses must be 4 years old or older and not already retired to be
eligible.
- All horses will be listed as "maidens" again, even if they
won on the flat.
- Once the horse officially retires for good, it will revert back to
being a normal racehorse to reproduce with other racehorses, not just
steeplechase horses.
- Horses will not be able to race past the age of 10 (applies to flat
racers and steeplechasers).
- Once your horses changes careers, it cannot become a flat racer again.
- As a warning, there are very few steeplechase races restricted to
female horses, but they do exist.
- If your horse won on the flat, but never wins a steeplechase, it will
go back to being a non-maiden upon retirement.
Enjoy this new part of the game!
