Re: Looking for Advice
Ugh! Wishing you a speedy recovery! I've had brief periods where I wasn't supposed to lift things with one arm - a satchel/backpack was useful, because I'd fill it with my good arm, then use my good arm to put it over my good shoulder, and it was easier to carry things than trying to carry everything with my good hand/arm, AND also left that good hand free to open doors, etc.

Re: Looking for Advice
I am so sorry! I was left one-armed for a couple of months after a spinal surgery damaged some nerves. I'll echo what Laura said about a backpack or a tote, something to leave your hands free. Buy things in smaller packages or get a friend to make smaller packages of heavy items. An inexpensive cart or wagon can be a big help, too.

Re: Looking for Advice
Love the backpack idea. I dragged mine out of the cupboard. I’m rapidly getting good movement back in my fingers too, which does help in certain situations. Like my bad arm can hold a bag open now.
I went and got my nails trimmed and painted with hard gel. Who knew not being able to trim your fingernails was going to be a problem??

Wow Cleo, that’s crazy. So glad you did not get hurt even worse. It will be difficult rehabbing over the next month/year. I’m praying for a speedy recovery.
Just think of how much better you will be at everything once you have 2 arms again
I dumb humorous thought crossed my mind.
If you robbed a bank right now they would call you the one armed bandit get it!! Like the slot machines haha.
Hoping my dumb humor lifts your spirits a little.
Wish you well. Take care.

Pete, I have made SO many bad puns in the past week. I've also been making up stories about how it happened. One guy believed me when I said I'd been attacked by a gummy shark

Oh Cleo, so sorry to hear this and wishing you a speedy recovery. No tips here I’m afraid but lots of brilliant ones already given amongst the puns

oh ghaaaaahd! I've never broken a bone, so I have no advice. I just have to commend your sense of humour about this situation. I guess use the SIM as a distraction? I'm pretty sure that can be done one handed. Yep, I just tried and it can. Heal swiftly!

Re: Looking for Advice
The arm is going well! My wrist is expressing its extreme annoyance with the intro of physio but I’ve maintained good movement and muscle.
Let’s not talk about the mouth surgery I have to have in the next few weeks

Just make sure you keep your spirits up Cleo. The mental can be harder than the physical. Wishing you the best with the mouth surgery.

Re: Looking for Advice
Had my first race rides since my bust up today. Everything went well! I thought I’d at least get a few twangs from the nerves in my wrist (they’re still healing). Most importantly, I didn’t send my dentures flying when I yah yahhed in the final furlong
So glad to be back doing my job. I really missed it!
