This is the second year I am offering up half of my yearlings for public sale. Although we are only two weeks into the season, some of the yearlings sold last season have already given their new owners a return on their purchase price; Decide ($135,000), Endlessly ($210,000), Flash Point ($150,000), Hoofbeat ($200,000), Sea Legs ($65,000), and Snake ($205,000) all came home debut winners for their owners. Hoofbeat, a Villain filly, even captured a stakes race in her debut. I have over 85 yearlings earmarked for sale this season, with more expected to be added as the year rolls on.
This first session includes ten of my homebreds of varying backgrounds and dispositions. Last year, I allowed the opening bids to start at $5,000, and saw many yearlings slip away for extremely low prices (<$15,000), so this season I have to place a $25,000 reserve on every yearling. I think this is reasonable for an unraced, thoughtfully-bred yearling.
Like last season, each subsequent bid must be $1,000 higher than the last. There is no limit to how many yearlings you may purchase per session. Pinhooking is discouraged, because I do like to keep tabs on my homebreds and make sure they have decent homes. I try to sell my yearlings for reasonable prices to help out fledgling stables, so when I see someone pinhooking my yearlings after that, I perceive it as that person trying to capitalize off of my generosity, and I am inclined to sell them for higher prices from the outset. Bidding is closed! Thank you to all who participated in this session, and congratulations to the new owners!
Without further ado, Session 1:
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=38398' target='_blank'>A Good Life</a>
f. Villain - A Lifetime to Wait, Onwardsilvercharm
First foal from a winning daughter of the RL stakes winner, Proposed. Villain has had great success with Silver Charm-lined mares.
Current bid: $120,000, Daryl Singhi
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=40557' target='_blank'>Camembert</a>
f. Acapulco - Mon Oeil, Le Dauphin Noir
Female family traces to Burning Hope, the dam of It's Okay to Cry, etc. First foal from a stakes-placed, winning dam. Now, her name does not strictly come from the cheese, as you might expect. A camembert in French gestures is when you make a mouth with your four fingers and thumb, emphasizing the closing motion. This means "shut up," or "be quiet," and is named so because the motion resembles the rounded top of the camembert cheese wheel. "Mon Oeil" literally means "my eye," and also has a gesture to go with it, and but can be synonymous with "yeah right!" in English.
Current bid: $150,000, Karie McBrian
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=39068' target='_blank'>Corsair</a>
c. Jet-Ski - Kickback, Sunday Silence
Female family traces to Up the Flagpole.
Current bid: $65,000, Janey Adams
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=36227' target='_blank'>Declare</a>
f. Edict - Crimson Tigress, Desert Warrior
Female family traces to Sky Beauty, dam of Trophy, Skyscraper, Worth Every Moment (dam of Fighter Jet).
Current bid: $48,000, Emma Lochranl
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=36440' target='_blank'>Model</a>
f. Inspired Myth - Always Helpful, Playful Mood
Second dam is stakes-producer Lightninasnowstorm.
Current bid: $50,000, Becca Banner
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=37834' target='_blank'>Pirate</a>
c. Mizzen Mast - Kendall Hill, Theatrical
Dam has 2 winners from 3 starters, and is from the female family of Limehouse, Blues and Royals, etc. Mizzen Mast has been doing well so far this season; from the two year olds I own from him, their combined record so far is 8: 5-2-0. Not bad, considering they should want distance.
Current bid: $48,000, Rob Kilbourn
<a href='http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=37556' target='_blank'>Rhythm Of Heart</a>
f. Domedriver - Noneedtotestmyhart, Sothey Fight Again
