Tips for Playing
How do you succeed in Triple Crown Trail?
- Select at least a few horses from the major players. It is likely
that long time players Eric Nalbone, Laura Ferguson, Jon Xett,
etc will have several horses on the Trail. It is up to you to
decide which of their candidates is going to run in the most prep
races and earn the most points.
- Take a look at the results for the Steward's
Cup Juvenile. It is likely that most of these horses will
be pointed for the Trail.
- The rankings should really help you in finding the top three
year olds, but make sure you weed out the sprinters, as these
horses will not run in Trail races.
- Add some of your own horses. If you have a Triple Crown nominated
horse and you know for sure that the horse will be running in
prep races, you will know how many points you could possibly earn
from that horse.
- Be wary of fillies: While some fillies may run in the Triple
Crown, they rarely run in prep races against males.
- Do add up and coming horses who might have broken their maidens
week 15 or 16. Some of these horses haven't run in stakes races
yet, but they will be making an impact on the Trail.
Other suggestions:
- Do a search for stakes races and
maiden races for 2 year olds for the last few weeks and examine
the results.
- Take note of the Triple Crown fields from last year, and which
trainers use two preps as opposed to one (more scoring opportunities).
Have fun!
