Auction

What's another way to buy a horse? An auction!

In the "header" on the top of your stable page, you will see a link to the auction. There are only a few auctions a year, typically week 1, week 13, and then another one at an unannounced date. By year 19, auctions will become more frequent.

To bid in an auction, click on the link. You will see the horses listed in the auction.

Select a horse that you like, and click on "Place Bid."

Type in your bid, and hit submit. It will ask if you're sure, then you will be redirected:

Now you will see your bid. Bids in red are your bids, bids in bright blue are bids that happened in the last 15 minutes.

Claiming a Horse

One great way to get new horses is to claim them.

Claiming races are races where every horse is entered for a price tag, and are available to the public. You do not get any winnings from the race, but right afterwards the horse is yours. If more than one person claims the horse, then there is a random drawing called a "shake" for the horse.

Click on the 'Entries' button up in the header bar.

Scroll through the entries until you find a claiming race. These races will say they are claiming races, show a claiming price, and every horse will have a button next to it that says, "Claim This Horse."

Click on the button of the horse you want to claim, and it will direct you to a page where you have to make sure this is the horse you want.

Once you confirm, you will be redirected to "My Claims" which you can also access from your stable page. Here you will see not only any claims that you have pending, but also any claims that you won or lost last week.

If you decide that you no longer want to have a claim on the horse, click on Retract Claim.

Confirm this, and you are no longer at risk of owning the horse after the race. However, if you don't click it, on race day the horses with claims will be given to their new owners. You can check for the claims that you won or lost by clicking on My Claims in your stable page.

Because it is random if more than one person tries to claim a horse, it is possible that you will end up with none of only some of your claims. If you look below you will see that this person lost 4 of their claims but won one, so the horse Graduation moved to their barn.

See the blue box around the words Horse Claimed? That is because this person had their horse, Severe, in a claiming race, and another owner claimed them, so Severe was transferred out of their barn and into another owner's barn.
