Nominating Your Horses
If you would like to nominate your horse to the Triple Crown, read this
section. A word of warning: only a select few horses get to participate
in the Triple Crown (run weeks 6, 7, and 9 of the SIM year) and the $5,000
fee to nominate can be a little taxing on a new player. However, if you
feel that your horse might have a shot to get in to any of the three races
(The Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, or Belmont Stakes) go ahead and
nominate.
Horses must be three years old to be nominated to the Triple Crown. If
the horse is a three year old, is not retired, and is not already nominated,
you will have the ability to nominate him or her.

Scroll down to the Horse Owner Actions and click on Nominate to Triple
Crown.

If you look back up at the horse's information area,
you will see that it is now nominated for the Triple Crown!

If you go back to your stable page and click on "My
Money" you will see that the amount has been removed from your account.

Breeding Your Horses
Everyone loves to breed their own foals. To do this you must own a female
horse over the age of two that doesn't already have a baby for the year.
The first thing to do is retire this horse from its racing career. Go
to the horse owner actions and click on Retire This Horse. Remember that
this cannot be undone!

The page will reload and the horse is officially retired.
Now it's time to breed the horse. Go back to the horse owner actions and
click on "Breed This Mare."

The next page that comes up is a little daunting - it
is a list of all the stallions available in the SIM to mate your mare
with. Don't worry, you will see if there are horses that are too expensive
for you, or if your foal will be too inbred (such as the mom and potential
dad are siblings). Click on a stallion you select.

Now it is time to register the baby. Type in the name you
desire, select the gender, and select the horse's color. Then click on
Make This Foal, and your new horse arrives in your stable!

Standing Your Horse as a Stallion
If you have a male horse who is ready for retirement, you
can stand them as a stallion. When you do this, anyone can breed to him
and you will get the stud fee put into your account. It is not recommended
that you stand stallions who weren't good racehorses because the chances
are good that they will not be good sires of future racehorses.
Make sure your horse is an ungelded male, which you can
tell if the horse is an "h" (horse) or "c" (colt).

Then scroll down to your horse owner actions and click on
"Retire This Horse."

You will see that your horse is now retired.

Scroll back to the horse owner actions and you will see
a space to put in a stud fee. Type a number that you think reflects your
horse's value as a stallion.

Click on Modify Stud Fee. Now you will see in the Horse
Information that your horse is standing as a stallion for $2,000.

The next time you go to breed a mare, your horse's name
will appear on the list of available stallions.
