Game Point and a Half Day in Real Dollars

Original article written by Regina Moore posted 12 years 2 weeks ago

According to the SIM calendar, the next Game Point and a Half Day (hereafter referred to as GPHD) is Tuesday, February 7th. There’s one GPHD per game year, or three for every real-life year. The day can move around somewhat, from game year to game year, so you always need to be attentive to when it’ll next be coming up.

Whether you buy just a few game points every once in a while, or a whole bunch of game points every game year, it’s only to your advantage to buy them on GPHD. That’s because you get 1.5 times the normal number of game points on that day. Normally, if you spend $10, you get 10,000 game points. But on GPHD, you get 15,000 game points for that same $10. If you spend $50 on GPHD, you receive 75,000 game points instead of the normal 50,000.

This is a hugely significance savings. Put another way, it means that for every 1,000 game points that normally costs one US dollar, you instead pay only 67 cents for those same 1,000 game points on GPHD.

If you’re befuddled by math, perhaps the following will put this huge savings in perspective.

A headshot costs 30,000 game points, so that’s normally $30. But if you bought those game points on GPHD, those 30,000 game points only cost you $20. Let’s say you reach a point in the future where you’ve bought five total headshots. That’s 150,000 game points you’ve spent collectively, which would normally cost $150. But if you bought all those game points on GPHD days, those five headshots only cost $100. That’s a huge savings!

Not impressed by headshots? Then let’s say you have 30 broodmares, and you’ve decided that you’re willing to spend a dollar on each mare to nick her with four different stallions (which cost 250 game points, or 25 cents, each). So, it would cost you 30,000 game points to nick those 30 mares with four different stallions. But, once again, if you bought all those game points on GPHD, you’ll only spend $20 nicking those mares, instead of $30.

Or let’s say you’re going to sponsor a Grade 1 stakes. That costs 15,000 game points, or the equivalent of $15. If those game points were bought on GPHD, then it really only costs you $10 to sponsor that Grade 1 stakes.

If you want to Create a Mare, that’s 6,000 game points or $6. But if you bought your game points on GPHD, it really only costs $4 to create that mare.

Upgrading your account to SIMperior status is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a SIM player. A full year’s subscription is already discounted a 45,000 game points, or $45. Buy those game points on GPHD, and now you’re really only paying $30 for a full year’s subscription.

Any way you look at it, everything that costs game points in SIM is a whole lot cheaper when those game points are purchased on GPHD. Even if you’re in a situation where you’re fortunate if you can even spend just a few dollars on SIM every once in a while, it behooves you to try your hardest to time it so that you can purchase those game points on GPHD.

Even a mere five dollars will give you 7,500 game points instead of 5,000. That’s ten additional breeding nicks you can do!

So, mark your calendar for February 7th, and take full advantage of Year 32’s day of savings.
