You Are My King, Dreams Can Come True in the Sim!

You Are My King, much more than a Foxhunter.

I wanted to take a couple minutes to talk about my favorite Sim Horse who is in his 15th year. Some of the veteran Standardbred owners may remember him, some may have heard of him due to the 2yro G3 colt Stake named in his honor.

You are my King started his career with no fanfare or dreams of grandeur in a $5000 sale to Bill Deitch, Bill found he had a decent horse when he won his first race and was then second in a G3. His performance was decent finishing off his 2yro season racing stakes finishing 4th in a G3 and 5th in the predecessor to Stewarts Cup Open, the Stewarts Crown Open a $500000 race.

His 3yro season started with a two wins and a second racing conditioned races before jumping back into the stakes circuit finishing his season off with two 4th place finishes in G1’s and then 5th again in the Stewards Crown.

Good but not good enough is what perhaps led Bill to enter the now 4yro Gelding into an auction where the winner of $110,600 was collared for the sum of $14000 by one lucky newbie (Me)
I made an equipment change and raced him in non graded stakes his 4yro season with mild success, $37250 he was again 5th in the G1 Stewards Crown but no wins at all his 4yro season.

He turned five with only three wins under his belt and this is when the magic happened, he started with a couple decent finishes in non-graded stakes before I dropped him in a NW5 he won & followed that with a third in a conditioned event.
Next he simply defied all odds when he went on a tear winning 18 of 23 races with the other 5 finishing 2nd with 3 Stewards Crowns all $500000 G1 races before he finally finished 4th in a race.

It was just after his second consecutive Stewards crown that I decided to “Cash in” and sold him for $250000 to Chavista Chivas who strangely raced him 4 times before selling to Chris Reed for $1000. Chris won “Kings” third Stewards crown at 7 & was along for the ride of great finishes.

In his last year of racing and after he had lost 4 straight I offered Chris $100000 which he accepted. I got to race him his last 4 lifetime races and he is turned out in my pasture. Oh and I made an equipment change again, he won 3 in a row setting a lifetime mark & was just beat to finish second in the Stewards Cup Open for his final race. What a ride it was!

You are my King finished with $ 1,676190 (All time leader SB),
Total Stats: 51: 25-11-4. (25 wins all time leader SB)
Active and all time Standardbred leader in total points (767).

Simmy Awards Won: Pacer Horse of the Year twice, Pacer Champion Older Male three times
