My First Week On The SIM

Original article written by Nicole Waters posted 9 years 1 week ago

Crazy, fun, confusing, difficult, intriguing? How can a game be all of those things? I never would have thought I would become so addicted to a game in my life! My name is Nicole Waters, I joined the Sim on January 5th (9 days ago) I wanted to write about how my first week went and what I experienced, hopefully future new players will read and know they were not the only ones to feel this way!

The first day I joined I went and bought a few horses who had already been racing and had somewhat proven themselves even if it was just as a claimer. Of course claimers aren't something you want to solely depend on, they are a great source of income and give us newbies somewhere to start! We not only have access to the New Players Sales Page that Veteran players don't have access too, but we have access to allllll those Veteran players. I have enjoyed talking with many players. I got a lot of help from them and even some nice horses! They were extremely helpful, and I think they enjoy having someone new to share their experiences with.

In the beginning I was completely overwhelmed, my stable quickly grew and I had gotten lots of information from the vets. I had started to do what they told me and quickly started to see results as of today I haven't won a race yet, but I have had 12 horses race and had 1 second place finish (a 2yr olds first time out) and another horse who raced previously to when I bought it placed 3rd. I was extremely happy! It was little achievements, but still made me feel like I was getting somewhere, and made me glad I listened to the other players.

The chat room is where I found my generous players and not only did it introduce me to them, but made me more comfortable with the game itself. There are tons and tons of new player forum posts, and articles, read as much as your eyes can possibly endure. Take it all in. Write it down if you have to in a notebook, that's what I was doing until a generous player sent me game points to get a SIMPerior account, and man o man did that change the whole perspective of it all! To say it has made thing s a bit easier is an understatement!

Make sure you make a forum account, not only do you learn from a lot of the articles but you can kind of learn who to ask for help from there! There are tons of games/comps/giveaways etc. on there so try to take full advantage of everything that you can! Try to interact as much as possible, I am a major talker so that wasn't hard for me but do not be shy! You will gain a lot more from talking!!!

To the new players out there that read this please I know I am a newbie myself but try to take the info I tell you into consideration it makes your first week a lot easier and hopefully you will get to be on the winning boards soon!

Enjoy the game newbies :) I am looking forward to meeting you and everyone else that I haven't gotten to meet in the game yet!!!!
