Original article written by The Steward posted 17 years 1 week agoLaura Ferguson's California was found to have a large hoof abcess after the Bluegrass Stakes - a race in which he won impressively - and the undefeated colt will miss the Kentucky Derby. It is possible, though unlikely, that he will contest the Preakness. It is more likely that he will be pointed for the Belmont.
Trainer Ferguson was devastated by the news, saying simply, "I am crushed."
