All of Us Dreamers

All of Us Dreamers
Vicki Johnson
I decided to continue looking at the Hall of Fame winners and see what I can learn from past winners. One thing I have looked at are the horses who do not have articles written about them. For those new to the game, one way to earn money to keep the ole stable afloat is to write an article about one of the famous horses.

To qualify for the Thoroughbred Hall of Fame, the horse must be retired for ten sim years. Every other year, eight horses are inducted into the Hall of Fame. These horses are found under the “Manage” heading, SIMuseum, then Hall of Fame horses. They are divided among the different breeds.

“All of Us Dreamers” is the one I chose to review today. His photo reminds me of his name. He has the look of a gentle knowing soul. He could look at you and tell what type of person you are. He put his whole heart into everything he tried but not one to brag or strut around unnecessarily. His name also drew me to him since aren’t we all dreamers playing this game? Don’t we all want to be the great trainers and leaders in the Sim world?

He is a bay horse with a stripe on his face. Bred by The Steward in Year forty-six. He was destined for greatness. Sired by Hartnell himself! A Steward-bred stallion who sired turf sprinters and milers for winning of $16,350,030. He was a remarkable sire with only 192 foals with 140 of them running. Of these 140 racers, over 100 were winners.

His mother was a great one too! “Wishes Were Horses” was a dark bay mare by Frankel and out of Horses for Courses. She was a stakes winner of $904,700 and her offspring won $16,321,700. “All of Us Dreamers” was as black typed as they come!

He sold at auction to Glen Larson for $2,245,372. I bet that if asked, Glen would say he was worth every penny of it. “All of Us Dreamers” started his two-year-old career on the European circuit. His first outing was a field of 12 at the London Gallops. He won the race with a speed index of 90 and by 6½ lengths. The second-place horse had a speed index of 73. This first outstanding win must have reinforced to Glen that this was a great horse and just the beginning of a tremendous career. He continued his winning ways as a two-year-old to chalk up three more stake wins and took Europe by storm. He was headed to the one-mile esteemed Steward Cup Juvenile Turf race where he placed third.

As a three-year-old, he faced his adversary that won the Steward Cup race, Shattering Heart, in his first outing at New Orleans “Black Ice Stakes”. He took the lead and ran away with the win. His three-year-old was a very busy year with a race almost every two weeks. Out of seven races, he had two first places, three seconds, and two thirds. One of his third places was in the Dubai Millennium Mile where he would return to face the challenge of this race again.

In his usual all business and let’s get it done style, his fourth year of racing was another success. Again, he raced in seven races with five first places, one third, and sixth in the elusive Steward Cup Turf Mile.

Year 51 was his year of great success. He was a horse that performed better with age. Again, he had a busy season of seven races with six wins and one fourth. He returned to the Dubai Millennium Mile where he won it with blazing speed. The third time was the charm for him as he won the Steward Cup Turf Mile in his final outing.

Named Year 51 North American Champion Male Turf Horse of the Year, he retired from racing and started his second career.

There should be no surprise he was a great sire and still is one since his offspring are still on the track. Like his father, he bred 502 foals with 303 runners. Of the 303 to hit the track, 246 were winners. A high percentage of his racing offspring were winners with total earning of $30,860,315. Breeding does make a difference! His four top offspring won over 11 million dollars on the track alone. They include Hempstead, Dream Among Stars, Secret Kisses, and Good as Hell.

He earned his second retirement and pensioned along with his cat Dreamer in Year 60. In Year 61, he was named into the Hall of Fame. I am sure the two of them are watching the races to see how his family is doing. Keep an eye on the races for his offspring because I bet his bloodline is not done yet!
