The Steward's Cup Turf Sprint brought together a tough field of 7, all vying for the $1,500,000 purse and the title of Steward's Cup winner.

And the winner this year was the Angela Dee Cochran home bred Perfect Night! This Night Shade colt broke well, sat mid pack and made a powerful move late to win by 1 length. He earned a 77 speed figure and $750,000 for his efforts. His race record now stands at a sterling 10:10-0-0, and he has earned $1,260,000. Perfect Night is out of the Perfect Soul mare Perfectontheinside, who earned $792,580 on the track. This is her oldest foal, and she has a 2 year old filly by Automobile, Black Leather who is also a stake winner.

Running a great race for 2nd was Iron Curtain. This $940k Steward bred colt by Boogie Shoes broke well, sitting just off the leader and was game in defeat. He earned $330,000 and a 75 speed figure. The earnings from this race bring his total to $1,504,500. His race record is now at 12:9-2-0. Iron Curtain is off of the Tulloch mare Duet. This lovely broodmare earned $460,600 on the track and has progeny earnings of $9,016,500. She is the dam of both Chord and Guitar, so there is no wonder why Iron Curtain has been a great runner.

The Fleet Afoot colt Sockie was third. He broke on top and led most of the way, just getting nipped out of 2nd. This colt earned $150,000 and a speed figure of 74 in this race. Laura Smith purchased him for the bargain price of $98,000, and he has paid her back many times over. With his earnings from this race, his total earnings stand at $850,700 and his race record is 10:8-1-1.

Anthem of Triumph was a closing fourth in this race. The son of Anthem of Angels broke last, but made up ground late. This Skyla Tate colt earned a speed figure of 60 in this race. With the $105,000 purse money, his total race earnings are $490,000. His race record is 10:8-0-0, with the off the board finishes being 4th place finishes in the Stewards Cup. Personal Defender broke from the gate in good order, raced wide on the turn and tired to finish a distant sixth. This $200,000 Steward bred purchase earned a speed figure of 54 for his efforts. He did not add any money to his earnings total from this race. His race record stands at 11:4-0-1 and his race earnings are $124,500. Personal Defender is by Knightsbridge Road and the Punishment mare Personal Thoughts. This mare earned $884,800 at the track and has progeny earnings of $3,009,980.

Finishing 7th was the Tammy Fox home bred Road to Dubawi. This Knightsbridge Road colt sat at the back of the pack, made a brief move and faded late.
