Newbies!!!

Hey there all of you enthusiastic newbies that make this game so great!!! All of us would love to welcome you to this game. I know that you're here to have fun and (sort of) live your dream as a racehorse owner. Here are a few tips that I've come to embrace that help with success in the game. Follow them, and you may have great success - or not - this is horse racing. One of the things I've come to love about this game is that it's so realistic. You may have the most beautifully bred horse in the world, and it may not win a thing. Or, you may breed your own horse (not recommended until you can race first) to a not-so-great racer and find untapped breeding potential!

First of all, don't go spending all of your money on horses that won't make you any money. Seriously! If the horse has a not so great resume, and it's a "great bargain", don't buy it! Invest in a really nice horse - one really nice horse - that can pay you back with his or her winnings. Even better, keep your eyes peeled for horses that are in the auctions. Some of the people have fantastic horses all in the same auction! When there are that many awesome horses, somebody's going to go for less than they're actually worth. Even if it's not the next Steward's Cup Champion, there's a greater chance that the horse will have success if bought from somebody with a reputation for breeding and producing great horses. Check out horses from Brianna McKenzie, Eric Nalbone, and Mallory Claire - they're all SIM breeders of the year at least once! They know their stuff! As a side note, for the good of the game and the people playing it, don't stand a stud that was terrible. Seriously. Keep the bloodlines clean or the game won't be the same. If you're colt isn't performing on the track, geld it. Likelihood is, he wouldn't perform in the breeding shed either. Plus, if you do geld him, you get a boost in his ability and a thousand dollars!!! Nothing to lose!

Second of all, these people (the above mentioned and many others!) are amazing people with great advice. Ask questions, learn from the answers, and apply what you've learned. Go to the forum and do your homework. People are always coming up with new stuff. And, speaking of the forum, get involved in the games. Learn what the others do to win them, and it's a good way to earn really cool prizes and lots of money! Use the "search" function to find which lines work and which horses to breed to when you're up to that level.

Obviously the most important factor is that you have a blast because that's what the game is here for! And, also a no brainer, having fun is really dependent on whether or not you're winning or failing. But don't worry! If you mess up, there's an outstanding chance that you'll learn from your mistake and do better the next time! In the mean time, good luck!!!
