Re: Anne Conradt Emotonian Contest

I've fallen off the face of the Earth the past few weeks as far as the SIM's concerned. I'll hopefully have an article wrapping up the contest done tomorrow.

Re: When I see something like this...

We've finally managed to get rid of Ice Cream Sandwich , but Patricia's here for another year at least. I'm a fan of keeping racehorses around to race and running them until the wheels fall off, so I always have a few good ones overstay their welcomes. She's still galloping Freak, even as a 6yo and ...

Re: Minimum Stud Fees

Having higher purses for maidens encourages people to at least try to win a maiden with every horse they breed. So every horse bred gets to the races, and those which will jump from productive to freak after their first or second start get uncovered instead of being GP'd as yearlings. It's the same ...

Gary: Double Horvath, Horvath’s Honey or Bjs Magic Bonus. No-one else found any of them. Mel: When you have the boys’ S...

Re: Who Sired Your Stakes/Freaks?

I’m not sure why Michael thinks being by Devon Castle wouldn’t help a colt’s chances of being a good stallion; I’m very pleased with the performance of his first sons to retire. Neither Drogo or Chalice have any trouble getting A+ nicks and initial gallop stats are extremely competitive. Sorry, I w...

Re: Who Sired Your Stakes/Freaks?

PACERS Freak Always B Winning (a 3/4 sister to this great mare who picked up her fourth SC 2nd placing last year. The dam left a Catalyst freak last year and is still kicking at 14 to try again this year) Stakes With Heart (who I really like as a prospect. Unfortunately I stood his sire so many of ...

Re: New Harness Track for Y54

3yos have a pretty clear path through the triple crown (Weeks 9 - 11 - 13, then the SC Week 16). All of the Grade 1s for older horses - besides the SC - are in Australia. They are Weeks 1, 3, 5, 14, & 16. This year one was sponsored in the US for Week 8, which seems like the perfect spot for a 4yo+ ...

Re: Flat A DR Hypoing Mare Help Please :)

Sire Heart of the Storm was a very fast horse who could get 1 1/4mi. Damsire Mint had less speed and a touch more stamina. Second damsire Just Victory was a speed horse who got milers as well as short routers. They’re all outstanding sires, which is a big positive towards the prospects of Sheltered ...

5k to send a horse to AJ?
It's not even Y53 yet.

Also the definition of "young horse" has changed. 4yos now cost money to GP.

Re: Podcasts

I thought there was an effort being made at one point to collect as many of Scott's podcasts as possible, but I can't find any thread about it. I have some on an old computer, and I managed to download one earlier this year. I think I could probably find a few more.

Re: $5 million All Star Mile (Aussie)

They have a couple of races like this in Japan, the Arima Kinen (the more famous one) and the Takarazuka Kinen. Australians are a bit more troll-y than the Japanese so, instead of the Japanese "We'll vote for the best, most deserving horses so the race has all the best horses in it" approach, they w...

Re: Regarding workout times - dirt router yearlings

Through my Appaloosa routers I've learnt that any horse with e.g. Cant Be Caught as a sire or a damsire will boost the workout speed immensely regardless of gallop comment. Some stallions throw stakes gallopers that work fast ("Morning Glory" types). Some throw stakes gallopers that work slow. You ...
