Re: Stallions Retiring/Retired Year 56

Thanks Carole!

For the sake of just making a decision now, Moon House will retire at the end of the year (expect a fee of about $30,000). Vernon will remain in training.

Axis Mundi

https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=713256

Great pedigree and had a good career on the track including a 98 SF. Nice little allowance producer, if you're into that sort of thing. Also threw a stakes galloper last year.

14 years old, get him while you can. $7,500.

Re: This horse makes me want to rip my hair out

3.5 weeks can certainly cost fitness with nothing in between on a sound horse .. Nah, if Carole had jogged him that day instead of racing him, the trainer would have said "fully fit." Even for a very sound horse, 4 week rest occasionally is not an issue. running him week 5 Monday he will probably n...

Re: This horse makes me want to rip my hair out

I honestly think 3 1/2 weeks is not too long once in a while. He's raced enough that he shouldn't have lost much fitness at all. He's just on a bad streak. You've done a great job with him, 8 for 14 is an excellent record. Stay the course I'd say. Barrier trial might not be a bad idea, nothing to lo...

Re: Linebreeding to "very old" horses

What if we were to linebreed to one of the old RL stallions of the SIM. Should I take for granted that their numbers were adjusted to be on par with horses 10 or more generations back? What kind of numbers would I be doubling up upon? Should I treat the added RL stallions and the SIM horses added a...

Re: Linebreeding to "very old" horses

I usually think it's good. (Take all this with a grain of salt. I'm bad at breeding lol.) As you suggested, the argument against it would be as follows: horses are generally getting a lot better recently - this is evidenced by speed figures and workout times. A lot of the foundational horses came fr...
