Cool thread!

Are the rodeo/eventer messages any random day or is it a certain day of the week??
I need to keep track of my pensioners from now on.

Edit:
Oh, I found the "pensioner income tab" under transactions...

No transactions! It says. So far I have just gotten a few fox hunter reports...

Polk,

It seems to me that the random chances of winning something happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays, twice a month.
I have my own barn, so that makes keeping a lot of pensioners possible. I think I have around 875 of them... I use to have like 1,200 or more, but a lot of my old ones have passed on, and I haven't been breeding as many foals over the years. . But I think the more pensioners you own the better the chance of snagging a prize every so often.

Sometimes too, in this thread, I'll mention something funny one of my lesson horses will do...but I have only about 4 or 5 of them left and they are all rather old. All my pensioned horses now, are either eventers or rodeo types with a few stable ponies scattered around the world.

I've enjoyed tracking my pensioners, and welcome anyone who wants to post here about their notices on their own, be it the prize winners or even the lesson horses. Good luck with your pensioners.

Stormy

EDIT: I'm not sure why part of my post is in italics. I'm not seeing any code that should have changed it. :?:

Carole, that is funny about Wicked Devil...living up to his name. :D

------------------------------------
I am playing catch up here. I got near to the end of year 49 and stopped recording pensioner earnings as my back has had some major flair ups, preventing me from sitting at the computer for too long. So, when I got on the computer, some things just didn't get done, like updating this thread.

So... I'm going to post my Earnings History chart here in this post just this one time until the end of this year. I had been posting it on every post, but it's getting rather lengthy as the years are stacking up. : )
All other future updates will just show the history of those horses that won something and the newest winners as they happen, along with the running total earned for year 50.

I think these are from the past two game years.

Congratulations! Your horse, 'Warcross', won second place in today's horse show! The $7,500 prize has been placed in your account.

Congratulations! Your horse, 'Super Typhoon', won third place in today's horse show! The $5,000 prize has been placed in your account.

Congratulations! Your horse, 'Squire Squirrel', won second place in today's rodeo! The $7,500 prize has been placed in your account.

During a lesson today, The Foretelling performed perfectly and helped the rider earn the Best Student of the Day award.

The Foretelling has quickly become a favorite among the younger children.

The Foretelling threw a rider today when spooked by a snake. Luckily, Ashley is okay.

The riding instructor, Debra, overheard one of the young riders saying that Buffalo Runner was not responding to cues during today's dressage lesson. Time for a refresher course!

Although unsure at first, Sans Sand is now confident jumping verticals.

I've been swamped lately...literally (my utility room flooded due to a bad weld on a fairly new hot water tank). So I haven't had a chance to come in and update anything for a time.

LOL at Fern's horse, The Foretelling -- can anyone blame it for being spooked by a snake. :P

YEAR 50
Year 50 Earners
No Lies, 3rd in the horse show. $5,000
Wings of Freedom, 3rd in the horse show. $5,000

Magnetic Hold 2nd in the horse show. $7,500
Coastal Storm won 1st place in the horse show. $10,000

Year 50 TOTAL = $ 32,500

I retired a good number of horses last year, I think this is the first time in several Sim years that my pension pasture saw an increase rather than a decrease in numbers. Also, I still have a good number of very old horses, so I know by the end of this year or the start of Year 51, I'll be losing those horses.

I have only 4 Lesson horses left, two of them are 21 years old, one of them is 20 years old and the last one is 16 years old. I think, when this Pensioners thing was introduced a Sim decade or so ago, I had about 30 lesson horses...but since they don't make money, I started to give my pensioners more useful stuff to do.. stable pony, rodeo and eventers. I might always keep at least one or two lesson horses thought, because it is funny sometimes to see what kind of mischief they can get into : )

Kador De Bazjet spooked in the isle and broke a cross tie. At least it's not expensive to replace!

Another one spooked!

Maybe the stable is haunted? !!!
(that might also make Sami cry, so don't mention it to her)

Wait until they find out they have ghosts too. :P
Wonder if Wicked Devil has something to do with all of this.

I enjoy hearing about the lesson horses, sometimes the name combos with their actions are such a perfect fit.

Wow, This year was a really nice one. My pensioners kind of dwindled down into lower numbers in the past few years as older horses died off. But then at the beginning of this year, I had did some culling of my breeding barn and racing barn and pumped up the numbers in the pensioner pastures. This is the 2nd best year I've had with my pensioner's earnings. :D

Not only that, I finally made over a MILLION DOLLARS grand total, with my pensioners! 8-) Yeah, it took 21 Sim years to do it, but the average of close to $48,072 a year helped out, especially early on when my stable's bank account was sometimes less than $20,000.

Below is my end of the year total along with the prior years. I'm looking forward to year 51. I hope you all had a great year with your pensioners too.

Now the question is do you have your own stable, or do you pay boarding fees for all of them?

I bought my farm, (Foremost Farm, in Florida) back in Year 37. I was able to do this because I had a horse named Fortification who ended up winning the SC turf sprint that year and bumped my account just over the $2,000,000 mark. I then got a discount on the farm that already existed. At that time it had been named A Florida Hub Stable, and instead of paying $2 Million for a farm, I got it for $1,800,000.
I had at that point a very large stable, well over a 1,000 horses - so getting a farm was a big goal for me in this game.

The reason I had so many horses....lol. I joined in Year 19 (2006) and from the start, I had decided to keep all the horses that came into my stable. I did sell one at a huge profit in Year 20, but that was the last one, I never sent a horse to Greener Pastures or sold any of my foals. I can't remember what year the minimum fee went from $5.00 to $20.00 but I do remember I had so many horses and so little money, that, that increase really really hurt.

I have leased a few mares, and only one person in this game has a horse bred by me, and she's a good friend of mine in the game.

But, yeah, having a barn and getting rid of a majority of the barn fees helped a lot, and as I said, my pensioner's bringing in $5,000 or so on up in the rodeo and eventing sure helped me out in those earlier days. And even now, it's nice to know that, like this year, the $70 thousand or so that they made was enough to help cover some other expenses. : )
