I've been playing this game since Year 35 and just barely got my first pensioner income.

Congratulations! Your horse, 'The Amazed', won second place in today's horse show! The $7,500 prize has been placed in your account.

My back problems have continued to keep me from sitting in the computer for too long...and this year...for the first time, I will be playing end-of-the-year catch up...for the entire year! I am surprised it went by so fast and I never posted even one post about my Year 51 winners.

So, here they are in a nutshell...and at the bottom...my grand total for the years.
Year 51 Earners
Khatchi Won 3rd in the horse show. $5,000
Quick Fire Fight Won 1st in the rodeo. $10,000
Palace Intrigue Won 2nd in the horse show. $7,500
Cool Moon Won 2nd in the horse show. $7,500
Special Red Fire Won 3rd in the horse show. $5,000

Year 51 TOTAL = $35,000
Stormy Peak wrote: Year 30 Total: $123,000

Year 33 Total: $ 40,000
Year 34 Total: $ 50,000
Year 35 Total: $ 47,500
Year 36 Total: $ 30,000
Year 37 Total: $ 67,500
Year 38 Total: $ 50,000
Year 39 Total: $ 55,000
Year 40 Total: $ 32,500
Year 41 Total: $ 22,500
Year 42 Total: $ 30,000
Year 43 Total: $ 57,500
Year 44 Total: $ 57,500
Year 45 Total: $ 50,000
Year 46 Total: $ 45,000
Year 47 Total: $ 42,500
Year 48 Total: $ 25,000
Year 49 Total: $ 42,000
Year 50 Total: $ 74,500
Year 51 Total: $ 35,000
-----------------------------
GRAND TOTAL = $1,044,500

I noticed all the earners this year, except for 1, were from the horse shows.
When I pension my horses, if they are from my stallions...they are almost always turned into eventers.
Horses from other stallions are almost always turned into rodeo horses.

Right now my count is:
521 Eventers
484 Rodeo Horses

I have so few designated lesson horses that I haven’t gotten an update on one in more than three real years. Then now I got two lesson horse updates within one week!

This is my first update for this year...not doing to bad with the pensioners so far. If this keeps up, by the end of the year, I should have one of my better years on record.

Thanks for the nice post. : )

Since that post, I've increase each career by about 20 horses. :P
Laughing at your surprise at how many eventers and rodeo horses. They accumulate fast...lol. I sometimes wonder if all of male pensioners were actually gelded when I see my pensioner numbers going up all the time - maybe it's time for gender specific paddocks. lol :? ;)

I've never sent a horse to AJ, and have only sold 1 horse, that I didn't breed, and that was way early in my Sim career. And, I believe, at this point, only 1 person in the Sim owns a horse I bred and it was a gift to her. So, given that, my pensioner pasture has filled up pretty quick. But, given how long I've been playing (2006), the numbers don't get too out of hand as aging claims a good number of them in clusters each season...I'll lose 15 to 20 horses in one season, sometimes, as they hit their 20s or older.

I hope your 137 earn you some money...best of luck with them.

I just realized how much I have.... Given that I race stock breeds and I'm into Rodeo in RL most of mine become rodeo horses, right now my count is:
311 Eventers
814 Rodeo horses
 I have more than Stormy

So far this year they've made me $15,000, last year they made a total of $52,500. To date they've earned me $330,000, most of which has been in the last 4-5 years. I kept pensioners in the beginning before I had a farm and before minimum board went up to $20/week, once board went up I only kept important horses and I didn't really start keeping pensioners until I owned a farm. Just for fun, right now if I had to pay board on my pensioners it'd be $22,500 a week or $360,000 a SIM year

Backstreet 2nd in the rodeo. $7,500

Seen It All Won 3rd place in the rodeo. $5,000

Year 52 TOTAL = $40,000

I couldn't remember this one... turns out he's an 18 year old gelding that I bred who didn't make any money at all on the track...so good for him, for bringing in $5,000 : )

I also took a look at how many lesson horses I had left. Not many... 4 of them. The youngest one is 18, one is 22, and the other two are 23 years old. At one time I had like 20 of them. :P

I'm so against fox hunting that about twice in this game, I've accidentally hit the wrong button and turned one of my horses into a fox hunter and then wrote to Em to place either kill the horse or change it to a rodeo or eventer. Even in fantasy life, I hate the idea of 'blood sports' I just don't get how anyone can think it's fun to chase 1 fox with several dozen hounds, running it to exhaustion, as it probably feels terror, frustration and hopelessness in it's situation...as it finally can't go any further and is torn apart by the pack of dogs...and it's called a sport. :|

I really wish that choice was gone from the game to be frank.

I have 28 stable ponies scattered about the world...I will even train my older horses with them from time to time as a light exercise. Also, sometimes I buy or claim a horse that has never been pony trained and so no matter where the new purchase is at, I usually have a stable pony close by as all my horses get Gate, Paddock, and Pony trained.

I don’t know much about fox hunting (and since I learned that fox hunters don’t earn cash I stopped pensioning as them haha) but from a google search maybe the SIM’s fox hunting is based on the US version where the foxes are rarely killed? :#
