Harden Your Heart is My Heart of Hearts' first foal. I was fairly certain I was going to retire his dam about midway through her three year old season, but I wasn't completely committed to the idea. When she finished fourth and then fifth in her final two starts I lost my cool a little, and took what earnings she got from the Steward's Cup Filly and Mare Turf Mile and bred her to Early Edition. I selected random on everything and got a chestnut colt with a stripe. Also, in a fit of anger, I named him Harden Your Heart because I was so disappointed with My Heart of Hearts who, while successful as a three year old, wasn't nearly as dominant as she had been as a two year old. So I was hardening my heart to her so to speak. Those feelings didn't last very long as this handsome guy became a stakes galloper, had nice works, and eventually became not only a Grade 3 and Grade 2 winner, but a 6x Grade 1 winner as well. He is my first millionaire and it's all the sweeter since he's a homebred.
Another random fact is that, as of 6-17-16, Harden Your Heart secured my 300th win.

Re: My Heart of Hearts
Well My Heart of Hearts suffered defeat for the first time in the Paris Oaks in Week 2 to Let Me Be Mine by a neck, but I am proud to say that she rebounded with a nice win in the Grade 3 Soft and Sweet Stakes tonight. She is being pointed for the Grade 1 $400,000 Irish One Thousand Guineas in Week 8.

Re: My Heart of Hearts and Harden Your Heart
It has been a long time since I last updated. My Heart of Hearts won a few more graded stakes and retired to life as a broodmare. Her first foal just raced for the first time tonight and came home in first by 2 1/2 lengths with a very nice speed figure as well! Now presenting Harden Your Heart:

He's a beautiful colt, Fanta, I hope he continues to do well for you. Loved his dam, when she was racing, such a beautiful mare.

I am so, so proud of my boy tonight! Harden Your Heart became a Grade 1 winner in the Nakayama Futurity Stakes! Hopefully his two year old success will carry over as a three year old =) Good luck to all in the Steward's Cup next week!

Re: My Heart of Hearts and Progeny
Harden Your Heart has continued his winning ways at the start of his three year old season. In Week 2 he took the Nuclear Hero Stakes, and this past Monday night he took down the Grade 2 Indian 2000 Guineas. He's pointing for either the Ginza Mile Trophy in Week 8 or the Hong Kong Champions Mile in Week 7. Both are Grade 1s and it just really depends on weather at the moment. If both tracks are fast than he will more than likely go for the Hong Kong Champions Mile.

Re: My Heart of Hearts and Progeny
So I ended up not going to Hong Kong or Japan and took the easier route of the Grade 2 Australian 2000 Guineas. Harden Your Heart won the race with ease and with that we set sights on the Grade 1 Doncaster Trophy against older company. Seven horses entered into the gates including the brilliant Steward's Cup winning filly Black Lighting Bug and the tenacious, warrior Final Fantasy. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, and after the post position draw I was down right terrified. The dreaded post position 1 went to my beloved colt, and numerous prayers and good luck chants drifted heavenwards. Post time came and my heart rate skyrocketed, I'm sure my husband and mom's dog thought I was nuts but when the terrifying black letters stating Ran February 5th, 2016, 11:00 pm came up I swallowed my nerves and clicked the button. I was so relieved I could have cried y'all. It's an amazing that these fake ponies can cause such great depths of emotion, and I feel no shame! Onward to the next race!

Re: My Heart of Hearts and Progeny
After the Doncaster Trophy I was on a high I thought couldn't be burst; until Harden Your Heart finished third in his next race. He had only lost once before finishing second, and I was reasonably disappointed but he didn't finish off the board and that's what mattered. I chalked that race up to the two week turn around, and the fact he had to run against older horses two weeks before as well. So with that in mind I began to eye the Western Australian Guineas.
I was hoping he would win because it was the day after my birthday and I felt that would be a nice gift, and something symbolic for myself to remember. He shipped off the farm on Wednesday and made it to the track without a hitch. Thursday I celebrated my birthday and Friday morning I woke up sick as a dog with an upper respiratory infection. In the past two mornings I'm hoarse but improve as the day goes on and hack up a lung every half hour. I felt so bad I didn't even stay up for the results.
Well, waking up at 4 in the morning I glanced at my phone and thought, "Well, time to face the music." I clicked on the results page I had left open the night before and saw that Harden Your Heart had won.... by a nose (this horse "lives" to make me worry) and in doing so defeated another son of Early Edition, Tomorrowsnewstoday, to place himself firmly as his sire's leading earner.
In other news; My Heart of Hearts second born the filly Rawr, by the Dr. Stawickery son Do No Harm, broke her maiden by a length and three quarters this past Monday night!
Have a great weekend, y'all!

Re: My Heart of Hearts and Progeny
Since I last updated Harden Your Heart finished second in the Grade 2 Osaka Mile to the talented Strength in a FIERCE race. Tonight he exacted his revenge and won the Grade 1 Hong Kong Champions Mile over Strength by a slim nose. Onward to the Doncaster Trophy weather permitting!
