Paramour is my first freak thoroughbred, ever. So she endeared herself to me right away, and it helps she was my first good foal from her dam since I campaigned her brother Harden Your Heart (by Early Edition) to three consecutive Doncaster Trophy victories, a Simmy championship as a juvenile, and over $2 million in lifetime earnings. Then she started blazing those really fast workout times and I was on cloud nine.

Then she started her racing career and broke her maiden at first asking. So naturally I was confident in the Pop Idol Stakes, annnnnd she promptly broke my heart by running third (behind eventual SC Juvenile Fillies Turf winner L'chaim). I was naturally flustered but decided to ship her east to attempt the Test My Heart Stakes, annnnnd she promptly finished second. So I shipped her to Spain to hopefully get an easy stakes win (and some confidence back) while all the super fillies slugged it out in California.

Fortunately she rebounded today to win the Premio Hermana by 3 1/2 lengths with a career best speed figure. Hopefully it's onward and upward from here on out, and I have all fingers and toes crossed for a monstrous 3 year old season!

My lovely girl began the year with a second to Stay Here Nearby in the Grade 2 Paris Oaks before rebounding today to best the boys, including last year's Steward's Cup winner Work the Room, in the Grade 1 French 2,000 Guineas!

So since I last updated Paramour took on the boys twice more and resulted in two wins! She took down the Spanish 2,000 Guineas and then today she bested Heal Not Hurt in the prestigious Grade 1 Palace of the Saints Stakes!

It's back to America now to prep in one more race for the Steward's Cup.

Well Paramour aced her final prep race with a lovely win in the Kentucky Crown Ladies Mile. Unfortunately the track came up soft for the Steward's Cup and my girl loves dry. However, I think a good horse can overcome weather (her dam won a fast SC Juvenile Fillies Turf when she preferred wet) so we shall see!

In other news, her 2 year old half sister, and full sister to Harden Your Heart, Love You Like That goes in the Grade 1 Osaka Juvenile Filles this Friday.

Her other half sister, Kickstart My Heart by Distant Dream, also had her headshot delivered this past week! Kickstart My Heart is the only progeny of My Heart of Hearts to not be chestnut.

Well, it has been awhile since I've updated this post and since that time Paramour finished a tiring fifth in a valiant effort in the Steward's Cup to round out her three year old campaign.

She began her four year old season with a win in a sponsored Grade 1, and then followed that up with a brave second place finish to Send Your Regards in the Dubai Millennium Mile.

She came back last night; however, to win a race I've always aspired to win: the Grade 1, $1,000,000 Toronto Mile over a stellar field. I have since decided she will be competing next year at the age of five.

She is a super lady! If you ever leave the game, feel free to throw her my way! LOL. Seriously, though, I can see why you are so proud of her. Can't wait to see her babies run some day!!

So since my last post she won her second Kentucky Crown Ladies Mile and finished fifth (once again) in the Steward's Cup Turf Mile. For the first time in her life she didn't have the lead during any point of the race. I opted to return her to the races at age 5 because Harden Your Heart did well at 5 and hoped Paramour would follow in his footsteps.

Well she came back tonight in the Grade 2 Sand Castle Stakes and did not go straight for the lead, instead her, Between the Stars, and Little Constants battled from the word go and Paramour came from third to edge out Little Constants for the win by a neck with Between the Stars in third by a nose. Paramour ran a career best speed figure tonight and the Dubai Millennium Mile is in 3 weeks! She just missed by 3/4 of a length last year so hopefully we get it done this go around!

2nd two years in a row in the Dubai Millennium Mile! Sooo close, but Close to the Best was much the best so kudos!

My lovely girl is currently her sire's second highest earner behind the talented mare Listen, by $16,500. She is residing in Canada for the moment in preparation to target her second Toronto Mile. If she were to win the $1 million event it would propel her as both her sire and dam's highest earning progeny. After this year's Toronto Mile she will probably target the Kentucky Crown Ladies Mile again and then go against her own gender in this year Steward's Cup Filly and Mare Turf Mile.

If she were to win both the Toronto Mile and Steward's Cup F&M TM that would propel her as my first $3,000,000 earner! Soooo *fingers crossed*

Good luck, Fanta, hope she can pull off some of those wins for you. You know 10 wins out of 17 starts (15 on-the-board finishes!!!) you really can't be disappointed by anything she does at this point. She's a super filly for you. :)
