Beautyinthesorrow...hopefully a multi-surface/distance sensation

Post by Dylan Christensen »

I just want to do a little brag that breeding for multiple things does work out at times. Beautyinthesorrow happened kind of by mistake. I was hypoing his dam to my new stud Altior and got a flat B which made no sense to me because I knew he didn't have any sprint ability and as far as I knew the dam, Ain't Heavy Metal, was just and AWS who could kind of do TS. Lo and behold she hypo'd pretty well with everything AW and Turf and Chase as well. After messing with hypos with various studs who could do all the Turf, AW, and Chase things I settled on Pinatubo, he was a bit expensive for a pretty meh mare but I wanted to try this out.

When it came time to gallop I was ecstatic to see Beautyinthesorrow was a Stakes Late Bloomer. As workouts go on he continues to impress me with the 2nd fastest 3f AW time for colts, 7th fastest 5f Turf time for colts, 8th best 4f AW time for colts, and 45th best 3f Turf time for colts. He might have some weaker divisions but I am ecstatic to try this guy out! I love the prospects of what I can do with him right now, for now my first goal is the Turf Triple and from there...we will see. Hopefully he doesn't flop but I have a good feeling about this one.

He just worked 59.2 5f AW placing him at number 5 in that division. Just another confirmed division for him!
