As promised, Lakeside Acres will hold it's annual Horse Give-Away during the last three weeks of the SIM year. This includes mares, two-year-olds, and other horses of racing age...and guess what? They're FREE! Yes, you heard me right, FREE! Here is how it works: On the dates and times given, I will post a list of horses here on the forum, to make it a little more fair, I will only list the names of horses so people have to research and such. As quick as you can, do your research and post here the name of the horse you want along with your full game name. The first person to claim a horse, gets that horse totally free. Newbies, this is a good chance for you! Limit one horse per player per day, and yes, other players can play for you if you can't make it. The dates and times I will be posting these lists are below. Make sure you're online at these times 'cause these horses go fast!

Sunday, August 26th, 6pm game time - completed
Sunday, September 2nd, 6pm game time - completed
Sunday, September 9th, 6pm game time

Days and times are subject to change but you will be notified as soon as possible. Please be sure to follow the rules of the give-away, thank you.

You're very welcome! It's an annual thing for me. I don't really need the money, so I don't care to sell them for a price. It's much more fun to give them free, especially if a new person like yourself nabs one and then wins a race.

Wow, this is really awesome Mandy, thanks for doing this! I'll have to mark those dates down somewhere, I don't want to miss this. :)

Alright, to make it a little more easy to sift through the horses ('cause I'm finding that my lists are very long), alongside each horse's name will be that horse's preference as I see it, such as dirt sprinter, turf router, etc. I will not post bloodlines or records, you guys have to find that out for yourselves. This is so if you have a certain type you like, you don't have to research every horse, just the ones with your preference but it still keeps people from pouncing on horses the second it starts.

Edit: by the way, all mares are bred, all colts have been gelded.

I am a new player who seems to be reasonably good at buying and re-selling horses but not that great at training horses (Win-16.0% OTB-34.0%). Would you be offended if one of your give-aways is resold next season?

That's called Pinhooking, and it's usually not a very polite thing to do when you're given a gift.

Amanda,
Thanks for doing this! We newbies need all the help we can get.

Just to be clear on the males in the offering being gelded. There will be no ungelded colts or horses in those being offered?

I'm getting prepared for what I might be looking for and I guess current or future breeding shed stallions wouldn't be in the mix?

Thanks! I'm getting psyched.

All male horses being offered are gelded, reason being that their performaces are not stud-worthy. Most of the horses being offered are two years old so look at them first, a few older horses and a handful of bred mares, but most are two and have a whole life of running ahead of them.

I will make sure that I put a note on any horse that I get in this give-away to remind myself not to place the horse on the sales page next season.

well after a certain amount of time if you get frustrated with it, I'd sell it. Sometimes other people can just see what you can't and get a win out of them. I think it's rude to put the horse right back up for sale, but after a season of trying or even 3-4 races, I'd sell it if you can't get anything out of it. Otherwise it's just costing you money that it was costing the person that gave it to you. I dont' care if people sell the horses I give them after 3-4 races if they just aren't making them any money.

Right, I have no problem either with players selling a horse I gave/sold them for cheap after a couple of races. What drives me nuts is when I give away/sell a horse for really cheap and then it appears back on the sales page for some ridiculous price within a week. I don't even mind if it shows up on the sales page within a week for a SENSIBLE price, but when I give away a horse and then see it up for sale a few days later for $300,000 or something, I get pretty annoyed.

But I'm not one of those people who demands a player give me first offer on any horse I bred that they want to sell, that's just silly in a game.

Anyway, back on subject, this is very nice of you, Mandy!
