Fancy Shoes

Post by Keith Maidlow »

Taking offers for Fancy Shoes...I can't support him and he is just standing in his stall alone and dejected. I am not sure what my number is but when I see it I will know it. Cash and partial trades will be considered.
Thanks

I say keep him until his foals hit the track at the very least, let him have that shot. His foals might absolutely explode on the racetrack and then breeders will flock to him, would be a shame for you if he didn’t stand under your name.

Also, if you want to make it a high fee, keep it! I made the mistake of setting a fee too low for one of my studs, he got absolutely hammered and his gallop stats took a big hit (even though he is still producing well).

ETA: I can’t stand the fact that autocorrect changes foals to goals as if foals isn’t a real word

I'm waffling. Thinking about selling him and actually selling him are two very different things.

I would keep him, or possibly lease him out for a year to a stable that has DR mares to support him with. Personally, I think he hasn't been standing long enough to make the decision to sell him outright yet. Just my opinion.

It sounds like leasing him out is a better option for you.

Fair warning - if you lease him out to a mass breeder, his gallop percentages will take a massive hit and you'll kill any commercial viability he could salvage in the future.

I have never leased out anything and I am not going to start now. He is whining about leaving my barn so I guess he will stay with me awhile longer.
