Figuring out equipment - theory test 10
Get into mixers. It'll be fun, they said.
Y50-W1-D3 Trainer: 'Atrocity' is a bit aggressive and is always fighting against the bit. I'd use a tongue tie. I think she needs one other piece of equipment too, but I will have to observe this horse in training to try to figure it out.

Which does coincide with the amount of gallop pieces I've left to try.Tammy Stawicki wrote: ↑5 years ago Well on the bright side only 2 more races until the jockey will tell you

If you are going to buy the main equipment piece you'd be better off doing it before any workouts. Cuts down on the permutations you need to try.

Nice one Ash. This kind of thing is very common in mixers in regards to so many pieces having the same time. That being said, I'm not sure it's actually worse than TBs as my percentages of proper equipment are pretty equal between the two on my 2yos and that's a 900 horse sample size.
Bottom line, workouts are still the best way to figure out equipment unless you want to pay for it. Small barns can get away with that but anyone breeding 200+ will be spending a minimum of 100k GPs plus the cost of the vet if you need one of those. To me, that just seems excessive considering we get a full 52 weeks of SIMperior for only 45k GPs, which is awesome value btw and highly recommended!!!
For the record, just in case the Stew is listening, I'd happily pay $50 every year to have my equipment automatically figured

I don't think that's the game, J.r.J.r. Lewis wrote: ↑5 years ago This kind of thing is very common in mixers in regards to so many pieces having the same time. I think that particular statistical anomaly is you.

Really? Granted they've run fewer races but my TB % is around 70% equipped vs 65% for mixers. The TB's don't have the issue of lots of pieces being the same time but I've come across plenty that the right equipment was something like the 3rd and 7th fastest pieces. I check them after every race and it's sad sometimes when I get a string of wrong equipments but it's also super exciting when I get a bunch right lolAsh Tarasin wrote: ↑5 years agoI don't think that's the game, J.r.J.r. And that's what we have to live for : "At least I got the equipment right!"

Oh, Lori, don't be sorry!
It's all in fun and jest. The filly has done relatively good anyway, and I'll find out eventually. No harm done!
