Claimer of the Year Award
So after the Steward's Cup I was thinking about the fact that there have been claimers who won the Steward's Cup. I actually remember someone telling me a $10k claim was there first Steward's Cup winner. So I was wondering if there has been a Claimer of the Year Simmy award before? If not I was wondering if we could ever get one, with all the claims that go on in a year it would have to be player submitted but I think it would be cool to see the biggest rags to riches stories in the SIM.
If you have any claims that turned out really good feel free to leave a little something about them here

This Paint claimed from me had to be one of the best ever, thanks to a clever pickup by Sten. He did win the Steward's Cup.

Re: Claimer of the Year Award
haha well I have probably bragged about that in chat more than once so no wonder you hve heard about it
to be honest I felt kinda bad for a while after he won the stewards cup not because I didnt love the horse but I kinda felt bad for Regina that I laimed such a great horse from her especially since she was my mentor and all
But she was always so great about it and was the first to congratulate me after the sc win and she also congratulated me after his last race which I think was the gelding cup which he also won
So thanks for everytything Regina you are the greatest

Re: Claimer of the Year Award
I have a couple of others I claimed that also were very good and multiple g1 winners I believe though none of them won the sc I would like to give them a shoutout here as well
https://www.simhorseracing.com//horse.p ... eID=262591 probably not the greatest ever but claimed him for like 12k and he won some nice stakes races that season and ended it with a 2nd place finish in the sc
https://www.simhorseracing.com//horse.p ... eID=390066 this one was a beauty even if he never finished better than 3rd in the sc
he was a multiple stakes winner as well as winning 2 grade 1 stakes races
he ws claimed for 8k and went on to earn 1.2 million in his career now that is what I call a good investment
https://www.simhorseracing.com//horse.p ... eID=378928 here is another one who was claimed for 5k I think and he also never finished better than 3rd in the sc which is still good and he won multiple stakes races as well a 2 grade 1 stakes races and earned almost 1.5 million in his career so if I called the last one a good investment this one might even top that a little
I might have more like these but those are the ones I remember of the top of my head

Re: Claimer of the Year Award
Not a mixer, but this is my favourite, and I'll probably never do better with a former claimer. Claimed for $40k, SC winner, multiple G1s, multiple Simmys: https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=430854
Claimed this earlier in the year and she's now a G2 winner: https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=943602
JR has a filly who was running in mid-level claimers early season and then won a G1 W13. Can't recall name right now.

LONG OVERDUE FARM: Keepin' it Canada since Year 16.

This is my best claimingfind. 10k. Won two stakes and ended up 4th in SC. https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=811505.
I don't usually claim higher than 10k.. yet.

Re: Claimer of the Year Award
This Just gave me an idea how about making this into a contest
I am thinking a contest a little similiar to the one Dan Kaufman hd a while back
meaning each player claim horses of the course of the first week and then enter the contest with the 6 they think would be best and then enter them in the contest and to make it most fair on all we agree on a maximum claim might be most fair to not go beyond like 5k on each horse
Then we follow the rules of Kaufamns contest and you enter your horses where you think they would do best and the better the result the more points
I am thinking scoring can be kinda like this
G1 1000p for WIN 750 p for 2nd 500p for third
G2 750P for Win 500p for 2nd 250p for third
G3 250P for win 100p for 2nd 50p for third
listed 100p for win 50p for 2nd 25p for third
allowance 50p for win 25p for 2nd 10p for third
claimer 25p for win 10p for 2nd 1p for third
I guess I could have had different points for different claimer and allowance levels too but it felt like kinda overkill
and this is just a suggestion so far if you would like me to do this I will make a more detailed plan in the contest area

Re: Claimer of the Year Award
I so did not think about that but I see at least 2 solutions to this
1 Just dont enter the horse in a claimer and it cannot be claimed away
2 what if we add a rule saying even if you lose the horse in a claim you will still get the points so it doesnt matter if you lose the horse after initially claiming it
