Gallop Comments - How did you go

Post by Tammy Stawicki »

Did slightly less than last year but not dramatically so:

All paints. A mix of sprinters and middle distance:
Freak = 1 (3.4%)
Stakes = 5 (17.2%)
Allowance = 9 (31%)
Productive = 8 (27.6%)
Solid = 3 (10.3%)
Claimer = 3 (10.3%)

Total = 29

Freak was by Son of a Grip out a mare that had been underproducing, so that is exciting.
Stakes are by Acarus, Dashin JJ, Heza Dasha Fire (x2 one sprinter, one mid distance), and Mark Me Gold

The Acarus stakes is obviously exciting (you should all breed to Acarus). Also, the Mark Me Gold is out of Synchrony which means all 4 of her foals have been stakes or freak gallopers so that is also pretty exciting.

Probably one of my worse years for mixers, only one Freak (not counting the Standardbred's that I listed on their forum) and that's an Arabian that won't race for a few years. A smattering of Stakes, surprisingly mostly in the quarter horse division - usually my weakest division. (Way overbred this year trying to give some of the gazillion formidables in my barn a chance.)

Appy's
Stakes - 3 (all colts and one in each distance division which is nice) Hundred Acre Star, Long Ride to Love; One Holiday Jet (Blue Hen, Star and Good mares)
Allowance - 11
Productive - 25
Solid - 5
Claimer - 7

Arabians
Freak - 1 Legacy of Charley (Blue Hen mare)
Stakes - 0
Allowance - 9
Productive - 12
Solid - 2
Claimer - 7

Paint
Stakes - 5 Acarus; Gilmer; Hey Brother; HIs Will to Live; Stetson (4 blue hens and a Formidable)
Allowance - 10
Productive - 12
Solid - 17
Claimer -16
Different Career - 1

Quarter Horse
Stakes - 8 Blast Off Dasher; Easy Sixes; Let's Be Off; Makers Fire; Quick Tella Story; Royal All Night; Stealin Easy Cash; Storm Center (7 blue hens and 1 Star mare)
Allowance - 11
Productive - 28
Solid -12
Claimer - 14

Appy
2 freaks - both Starry Sky Spirit
22 stakes
22 allowance
37 productive
24 solid
25 claimer

Paint
1 freak filly - Gilmer <3
16 stakes
33 allowance
30 productive
24 solid
21 claimer

quarter horse
29 stakes
58 allowance
57 productive
41 solid
37 claimer

pacer
6 freaks - 3 joke face, 2 Wanted Aliveornot, Cataylist
6 stakes
12 allowance
4 productive

trotter (not sure why I bother with these anymore)
1 allowance
2 productive
1 solid

I was surprised about the number of lower level solids and claimers that I bred, considering that 62 percent of my mixer mares are either stars or blue hens. I probably need to get rid of some of the formidable and belows.

I didn’t get ANY non-Standardbred stakes or freaks. I’ve been gradually breeding fewer of the others, I suppose, but still, dayam.

Shamelessly snatching Pete Vella's format since it was neat.

Appaloosa: (20)
(2) Freaks; One Holiday Jet, Joe's True Colors
(1) stakes;Joe's True Colors

Standardbred Pacer: (1)
(1) Freak; Cumberbatch (I don't really trust pacer freaks though.. they're suspicious! 8-) )

Quarter Horses: (8)
2 stakes (Night Scene, Go Away Boss)

Particularly happy with my appy router freak since she's a granddaughter of Party Lights who thanks to Lori Hamill kickstarted my interest in Appaloosa routers in particular and mixers in general. <3 Lori!

I bred my first non-standardbred freak since the gallop adjustments (https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1078205) so I'm very happy about that :-)
Very pleased with my Appys in general, I got 5 more stakes from 19 overall (mids and routers) and I think all but one of my 12-14 year old mares survived, yay :D

I also somehow ended up with 12 paints (10 routers, 2 mids) and I seriously don't know how that happened since I paid zero attention to them and don't remember ever having the intention of getting 'into' paint mids. But they gave me 3 stakes horses so I'll take that lol

Ironically the breed I paid most attention to and had the most mares (Arab sprinters) were by far the worst. I didn't get a single stakes and I think only 4 allowance gallopers from 17 mares. Wow. And I thought I actually had finally nice enough mares to give me a freak there :roll: (Btw, still on the lookout for stakes+ yearlings, lol)
