Kind of disappointed because I spent $3.2 million on breeding last year (although most of those were Standardbreds). I mostly only breed mares that are star and above and last year I really worked at getting the best possible stallion for each mare, no matter how high the stud fee. So I guess it's back to the cheaper studs for me! I have bred all my current mares already and spent only $700,000. I'll get some more at the end of the season after retirements, but I'm still really happy that I kept the costs down this time.

Was pretty annoyed with my paints- no stakes but 5 allowances from 7 foals.
As disappointed as usual the last few years with my arabians (all sprinters). 2 stakes and 6 allowances from 19 foals, definitely time to cull some mares there.
My appys (especially mids) really were the bright spot this year; 1 freak and 4 stakes from 14 foals (mids and routers).
stakes: this colt, route filly with really cool ped, half to The Zippo Factor and One Mic and another colt

The greatest gift was this freak filly though. Out of Tic Tac, one of (if not my first) G1-caliber horses, who is out of my first ever stakes winner, Plop Plop <3

I bred 136 Mixer mares (QH, Appy, Paint) all DS and DM to the top Level stallions. All foals hypo at least A-. Most mares were BH and stars with a few formidables. The freak rate of these stallions was 0.6 -3 and the stakes rate was 14-18. Also a few GP stallions. How is it possible to get zero freaks and 9 stakes from these horses???? 0% freaks and less than 9% stakes. And if I am getting such low percentages who is getting the freaks and stakes that statistically should be mine?
This is the 2nd year in a row with no freaks and few stakes.
I hate the new breeding system.
