2yr old QH Rankings...
I was totally shocked to see my filly Golden Memories is the number 1 ranked 2yr old QH right now.
It probably won't last long, since she's only a stakes level, but I'll enjoy it while she's there...lol. Her dam, btw, has 3 foals, the two fillies are stakes and the colt I won't know about until next year.
Because her first 2 were stakes quality, I've sent her back to Mark Me Gold all three times, hoping for a stakes or freak with the colt. Maybe I'll try another stallion next out and see how it goes.
I don't do near as much mixed breed racing as I do thoroughbred racing...and mostly turfy stuff at that, so it always surprises me when I get a really nice mix breed runner, as I'm not as familiar with the pedigree lines and and best nicks, like I am with the t-bred turf horses.

Re: 2yr old QH Rankings...
That made me laugh out loud.
I've not had much luck with mixers... I have a number of freaks in the mixers division that couldn't out run a fat wiener dog...yet here's a stakes level filly doing quite well. It makes me shake my head and wonder why this stakes quality horse is so steller, yet so many of my freaks can't even win a nw3
Maybe you are right...I shouldn't tell her she's 'just a stakes'. I'm think at some at some point, though, she's going to run against some real freaks and get her butt handed to her on a platter.
Even then, I won't be disappointed in her. She's done so much at this point, I'm happy. : )

If your freaks are Standardbreds that would explain it
You have a very nice Stakes there! Most of my stakes cap out in listed stakes races lol

Re: 2yr old QH Rankings...
Lisa, those are some really nice runners Congrats!
I hope by the time my filly retires, she can get close to or even win over a million dollars. I think that's a lot harder to do in mixers compared to the thoroughbreds because the stake purses are so much lower.

Re: 2yr old QH Rankings...
OMGosh! She won the Most American!!! I've never won this race before, although I have had one or 2 horses give it a try over the years. She's 2 years old and already a Millionaire! I'm so very happy about it...way to go, my 'just a stakes' filly.

Re: 2yr old QH Rankings...
I took a look at the 2 year old rankings.
She's tied for the #1 spot for active points 140 (all breeds turf/dirt, both genders) with a colt, a Thoroughbred dirt sprinter called Scream My Name, owned by Keith Maidlow.
She's at the #1 spot of all breeds both male and female in earnings - with $1,015,000
The #2 spot goes to another mixer, a Quartet Horse filly - Black Smoke Yen, owned by Ken Lind $574,000.
I really do feel like I own a freak - wish all my stake horses had this much talent.

That's awesome, congratulations!!
Also you wondering whether you'd ever get her close to 1m in earnings was pretty funny to re-read now

Re: 2yr old QH Rankings...
WOW!!!! I'm so loving the headshot for my 2yr old Quarter Horse Golden Memories!
Thanks so much to the artist and also Thanks Em for the headshot sale. I kind of jumped the gun when I ordered it...I wanted in on the sale, but at that point, Golden Memories hadn't earned a million dollars...and that's kind of been my guideline for getting my horses' headshots...that they have to hit a million in earnings before they get one. But I felt like she was going to do well in the Most American and she was already at half a million entering the race. I figured it would be a safe bet that she would earn a million before the end of her 2 year old season...or do so in her 3 year old season.
I like the soft look of this headshot...love her long mane - Also, one of my favorite t.v. shows use to be Gunsmoke...and Matt Dillon usually rode a buckskin horse, so I'm partial to that coloring...the darker mane and that coloring is just beautiful.
