Tri Distance Challenge? Starting Yr 58 or 59?
If there was a tri distance racing challenge for Appys and Paints, would there be interest? With bonus money for the horse(s) that score the most points in the series (I will commit a minimum of $3M a year for the bonuses)... with a nomination?
Re: Tri Distance Challenge? Starting Yr 58 or 59?
I’d be in for a Paint one, sounds like a lot of fun even though I have no multi distanced horses you bet I’m game to run the same specialized horse in all 3 races Gotta toughen them up somehow

Super cool idea, though I don't think I'd personally have anything to send, but it would be worth breeding for!

Re: Tri Distance Challenge? Starting Yr 60
Here are my thoughts. I'm curious how many nominations we would get at $25k each. I'm sure that I would be good for 4 entries, at least...
No special races. Up to the owner to get points spread around the distances.
3yo's only (I'm open to 4yo's only. I just don't want someone to luck into a special horse that takes the money repeatedly- if we use 3 yo's we can have the first races in yr60 using horses bred this year)
No claims races, no sponsored races, no races at player owned tracks (no shenanigans)
Horses nominated by the end of 2yo season (or 3yo season if we race 4 yo's)
All points scored in eligible races count
Points will be tallied in each division and used to score the tri-distance total as follows (simple spreadsheet)
Sprint Points (SP)
Mid Points (MP)
Route Points (RP)
Tri-Distance Total = SP x MP + MP x RP + SP x RP
Examples:
Horse A scores 300 points in Sprints and 0 in the other categories (300 total)
300 x 0 + 0 x 0 + 300 x 0 = 0 for Tri-Distance Championship
Horse B scores 125 points SP, 125 MP, and 0 RP (250 total)
125 x 125 + 125 x 0 + 125 x 0 = 15,625
Horse C scores 75 in each category (225 total)
75 x 75 + 75 x 75 + 75 x 75 = 16,875
In the examples, the horse with the least total racing points but spread over all distances would win the tri-distance championship.
Prize money ideas...
$1M 1st place, $500k 2nd place in each division = $3M (my contribution, each year)
Nomination money can fund 3rd place prize and/or other prize categories
Bonus to highest total in either breed
Bonus to highest total for horse of opposite gender
Bonus to highest scoring gelding
Highest total for an uninsured horse
Highest total without winning a stakes race
etc, etc
No special races. Up to the owner to get points spread around the distances.

I’m still in! I’m willing to contribute to the prizes. I also have a tri distanced mare now so I’m ready!

Still in. Also point system looks good. Will nominations be done as yearlings or the year before contest starts? To make people think about who they nominate, being the prizes look great I suggest at least $30k for nominations if not more. At $25k I would nominate at least 4 per breed at $50k it would make me think and nominate only 2 per breed.
I need supervision 24/7.

Nominations at the end of 2yo season to race 3yo season. Your argument for higher nomination fee actually makes me want to keep it at $25k. I think attracting the most entries should be the goal.Craig Mcgee wrote: ↑3 years ago Still in. Also point system looks good. Will nominations be done as yearlings or the year before contest starts?
