Winning my first maiden with a homebred!

Post by Ren Marston »

So, this isn't my first post about my 2yo homebred stakes paint colt The Red Viper, and its probably not the last (i hope). But, this is definitely the most exciting so far! He is from my first crop as a breeder, and his workouts have been pretty fantastic. His fastest time was 17:69 at 350 yards (securing him the 6th fastest workout time for paints at this distance of all time), and he won a 100 yard barrier trial week 14 of last season. But two days ago on Saturday, he FINALLY hit the real track and ran in a maiden across 350 yards. He captured another 17:69 time and first place! His speed figure was a respectable 91 and I cannot wait for his next start! In honor of his victory, I drew his win! Here's to hoping for many more in the future!

its been two months, and two exciting months at that! The Red Viper will be attending the SC Paint Dash this Wednesday! The field is absolutely loaded, and he will be having a rematch against Tammy Stawicki's Lecythus who won the only race he didn't win. It will certainly be an interesting race, and a fast one at that! It's not my first SC but it is my first with a homebred and I'm very excited just to have a horse that belongs there!
