Malarky.

With all the negative campaigning done in the presidential elections there wasn’t much related to the campaigns that would have brought a smile to my face. One of the few moments that did was during the VP debate when (as I recall it, anyway) Ryan and Biden actually briefly laughed together while defining the term ‘malarky’ for the moderator. Given all the negativity, a moment of shared laughter stuck out in my mind. It was the first thing that popped into my head while trying to find a name for this 'special' galloping filly.

Added bonus, Malarky has already managed to mess with The Steward's head. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26555

Slipperywhenwet
Star Signs x Tricky Road
http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=349858

I thought of the name because of her dams name Tricky Road so I thought when the road gets wet it becomes slippery. but i thought of another reason too but i wont say what that reason was
Got to start from the bottom to get back to the top. Just wonder how long that will take in the game and in life.

OK, here's my entry for best named horse:

AWESOME STONES
(Awesome Gift x Big Stones)

I would make a link, but I have not mastered that skill to date. Lessons gladly accepted!

This is a 1 yr old Chestnut colt named by his breeder, Lee Cara, and presented to me as a gift.

How he got the name is pretty self explanatory; but if he should turn out to be a poor runner, my question is, how do you geld a colt named "Awesome Stones"? :D

I also like to combine the mare and sire to come up with a name, but since the sire is Dr. Seuss I decided it should rhyme.

Dachshund Dave
Nolineonthehorizon - Sloppy Seconds

I named this horse after the alter ego of my dachshund Roxy. While Roxy is quiet, cuddly, and beautiful, basically dachshund perfection personified, Dachshund Dave barks at strangers ( and the mailman, birds, squirrels and anything else outside) leaves presents in the living room, and is often... how to put this delicately... we'll say overly amorous towards the other dogs, their toys, the couch pillows and even the occasional unsuspecting human leg ( or arm if they're sitting down). So when I saw the dams name was Sloppy Seconds what could I do?

He might never win anything but I will keep him forever, cause the name makes me smile :D

ORANGE PIPPIN ( Black Night x Apple Crisp.) http://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=340972

Was looking for a nice sounding name for this filly that was associated with 'Apple' (from the dam) and which was also a bit unusual or different in some way. Forget how long it took but eventually was happy with Orange Pippin http://www.orangepippin.com/ It ticked the three boxes and had some additional appeal.
Coincidentally they're also 'Esteemed' (dams sire) in some places. They may be common elsewhere but I had not heard of them before.

Naming is the main reason I stick around this game.

My favorite name right now is Bluegrass One.

Named her after seeing a short on yahoo about a banjo maker in Charlotte, NC who carved a banjo for the president.

I didn't breed this girl, but I did name her.

Wonder Sleeps Here
Lanarkshire x Scalding (Piston)

Being by Lanarkshire, I decided I had to go with something Scottish (I ended up disregarding the mare's name entirely). My favorite band happens to hail from Scotland so this girl is named after one of my favorite songs by them. And it sounds pretty :]

Time for the first day's random draw. (I'm using a random number generator in a spread sheet to be sure to get a random selection.)

Today's lucky winners are:
Stormy Peak
Kris Krueger

Congratulations! Game Points are on the way.

Same time tomorrow there will be another drawing. Everyone who is already entered is eligible (you can win multiple times) plus anybody entering in the next 24 hours.

Good luck to all!
