Undefeated Manhattan just won the Steward's Cup Juvenile, but he was bred for even bigger and better things. His sire, Highly Regarded, won the Long Island Classic in Year 27, and his dam, Whitney, won it in Year 28. They've "joined forces" to produce Manhattan, who is bred and named to win the Year 38 Long Island Classic (and maybe the Derby and the Crown, too, if his owner has his way).
The contest is simple: Send a Contact Us message to the Steward between now and Sunday, March 2nd at noon Pacific with one word, either Yes or No. You're answering the question: Will Manhattan live up to his destiny and win the Long Island Classic in 9 weeks?
If you're correct either way, you will receive 500 game points, the equivalent to one equipment check or two hypo mate rating checks. If you're wrong, no big deal, nothing happens except you were wrong.
Enjoy!

Re: Manhattan Future Wager Contest
Manhattan's workouts were very good at 5 furlongs (top 5%). Then I looked at his 6 furlong workouts. I was shocked at how slow they were -- not even in the top quartile. Based on his workouts, he looks like he will be run best at 8.5 and 9 furlongs. If was you, I would start praying for monsoons to hit Kentucky and New York on race days. Good luck!Eric Nalbone wrote:I know my answer!

Ronnie - you may be right! Your research suggests that a simply "no" answer will earn you 500 game points, and realistically that's the more likely result. That said, I'm not putting too much stock in workout times: Commander owns spots 9-12 in the all-time 6f work category and didn't want to go further than 9 furlongs. He owns spots 1 and 3 at 7 furlongs. I've had too many short routers blaze fast 7f workouts to care too much about that.Ronnie Dee wrote:Manhattan's workouts were very good at 5 furlongs (top 5%). Even if Manhattan can not go 10 furlongs, you have a number of other horses that look like they can be very competitive at the Derby distance. In fact, you may have to loan me a couple of them so all of them can run in the Derby.Eric Nalbone wrote:Ronnie - you may be right! Re: Manhattan Future Wager Contest
Out of 87 contest entries, only 12 people thought he would lose, the rest thought he would win! Ouch. I'm handing out the game points now - enjoy!
