Make Em Hot totally ducked the London Oaks because her owner is a big chicken.

Updated through Week 9 Friday Europe outings.

Moon Faced (London Derby) and Careless (London Oaks) pick up Grade 1 titles (Careless ran a 90 ... pretty happy I dodged that race, Careless is a beast).

I am so thrilled about Moon Faced  The London Derby is one race I've always wanted to win and I'm so happy this boy did it for me!

In updating the Grade 1 winners thread, I noticed Moon Faced ran the exact same time in both the German Derby and London Derby. Pretty funny.

I fixed a couple mistakes in Laura Smith's scoring. Sorry about that.

(I also fixed Sunday Heartbreak's total.)

OK number nerds, here we go.

I've taken the horse and placed them in order by how they were picked, then ranked them based on how they have scored so far. The purpose is to see who has made the best picks. What I've found is below:

The 5 picks with the biggest difference between current standings and where they were drafted were all taken in the 6th round. The next two were taken in the 4th, then another 3 from the 6th.

Underperformers all came from the early rounds, first round, second round, 4 more first rounders and another 2nd, then first again.

The best pick in the first round goes to George Knatz, taking Loveless with the 15th overall pick. He's 2nd in scoring overall. The runner up was Sean Gallagher with Sunday Heartbreak at number 16, then Nicholas Johnson taking Let Me at number 18 (I want to point out that my pick was number 17...)

The best pick in the second round goes to Sophia Stevenson, taking Moon Faced with the 35th overall pick. He's 8th in scoring overall. After that J.r. Lewis (Through the Night) and Michael McGuire (Elfreth's Alley) also had good picks.

The best pick in the third round is Kaine Saracen, taking The Good Kisser with the 48th overall pick. He's 22nd in overall scoring. Other notables, Todd Lucas (Mauretania) & Garret Folsom (Whenyoulovesomeone).

You knew it would be somewhere, Laura Smith has the best 4th rounder with Candy at number 70 overall. She's 4th overall in scoring. Hat tip to Sophia Stevenson (King of Ashes) and Katie MacPherson (Mystere) for their nice picks.

Randall Johnson taking With Class as the first pick in the 5th round, number 77 overall was the best pick of the round. He's 27th in scoring currently. Dave Trainer (With All My Love) and Garret Folsom (Left No Trace) deserve credit for their picks as well.

Nick Gilmore has the best overall pick getting Believe Me at number 96 overall (first pick in round 6). He's 15th overall. Mel Lankford (Always Revelation) and Gary Prat (Lifehouse) both nailed their final picks.

Looking at the other end of the spectrum, we have the following as worst picks by round:

Round 1 - Sophia Stevenson - Thunder Bay (4th overall), ranks 94th.
Round 2 - Tan Gent - Ashford (27th overall), ranks 104th.
Round 3 - Gary Prat - Lilibet (51st overall), ranks 107th.
Round 4 - George Knatz - Call to Mind (62nd overall), ranks 108th.
Round 5 - George Knatz - Abandoned Path (91st overall), ranks 100th.
Round 6 - Tan Gent - Perfect Match (103rd overall), ranks 113th.

One thing that I've noticed is we really could have gone 200 horses deep. A lot of stakes winners who weren't drafted. I knew turf routing was deep, but it's gotten deeper in the five or so SIM years since I stopped doing my turf route rankings.

I'm about to get started with the points update ... just a note, with regard to the three-way dead heat, I have decided to award each horse the full 50 points for a G1 win. That's not apparently how the SIM divides the points, but I think it's the fairest way to do so in the contest ... after all, each horse did in fact win a G1.
