Can you split Stakes races?

My horse Tycoon Cityis in a stakes race but he's currently on the waiting list. It's not that he's bad cos he has potential, but he was mismanaged last year, and side-lined for half of this year with an injury but came back nicely in some tough races, and i'd ask for a split except i don't know if you can split stakes races

It makes sense, though, Carole... if you could split stakes, then you could split, say, the Louisville Derby.

Yea i know but i though that perhaps you can split non graded stakes, but my boy is entered in a different race now, so here's hoping he won't be waiting again
