Miraculous Tapeta was from a Steward lease. She galloped claimer as a yearling. I was so upset I purchased her younger full sister in the TBS sales the following year. Well, she just jumped up to an "allowance" at 3 yrs old (which is basically a "stakes" for AWR) over the break! She'll be debuting on the track in Week 4.

:P :P :P Well, her sadness, now becomes joy, I hope she continues to advance, category and can become a Freak, I do not know if there is this category in AWR

so good luck, and joys with your filly

This is why you don't get rid of insanely well bred claimers right away.

Y50-W5-D6 Trainer: Right now, 'Ketchikan' looks like a claimer, but don't despair because they are a solid source of income, and can always improve with racing experience!

Y50-W8-D6 Trainer: Oh, my! 'Ketchikan' is a freak!

It's funny - I can no longer gallop my big groups of older horses - I click to train my "claimer barn" - everything comes up as an option EXCEPT gallop - is anyone else having this problem? No problem galloping yearlings in a large batch, just 2yo and up claimers.
I'm just here for the fun of it

If you have any pacers, trotters or chasers selected gallop won’t be in the drop down :)

Came across another!

Horse: Cash Cow
Sire: Cash Out Winnings
Dam: Tempted By a Wink
Age at change: Galloped Allowance Y47, and then Galloped Stakes Y52
Time of year: Not sure

Not sure if it's worth getting an 8yo sprinter fit, but might be worth a shot haha

You know, I always suspected that about that horse when I was doing the TCT. JUMP!

It was the works that gave it away. He got insanely faster.

My thought at the time was, "That horse didn't make just your average, one-level jump. He made a HUGE jump."

I thought, if Danny follows true to form, he's going to run that horse 2-4-6 as a 3 year old, and there are at least 150+ points sitting in that horse for the TCT. More if he wins the second leg.

I always kind of thought he would win the Baltimore Crown, like Doctor. That's the race I really had him pegged for.

But then, the Crown came up Muddy that year, and he had been in all FAST races ... and I thought, "Ooops. Bad weather got me. And Ketchikan."

Without knowing his surface preference ... to this day, I really think he would have won the Crown if that had been a fast track. But I don't know what surface he liked.

After the Disco x Doctor x Father Ralph just screamed speed.

I was thinking, "Danny's got himself a good speed sire there. And that usually means fillies for Oaks-distance races."

Of course, you never know. But that was my thinking at the time.
 I always pay attention when Eric Hamme talks about horses running in Maryland.

No improves... which is sad because I was hoping Titanic's yearling filly would improve.

I've posted about him in here before.

Wind Over Westeros
Galloped claimer as a yearling, sold him for $1.
Bought him back as a 3yo and he was a stakes, now he just galloped as a freak this year at 5. Some things get better with age!
