Gallop Day Positive Vibes Thread

Post by Laura Smith »

So I know that a lot of people mentioned their good gallops in the main thread, but for me those get lost in the mire of gallop angst.

So let's do it again, separately. Who did you gallop that you're super pumped about? Who are your biggest surprises? Even better, what are you excited for in Y52? Who are your best 2YOs? Sophomores returning to the track? Older horses?

I spent a bit of time at work this morning being annoyed at the good things that DIDN'T happen, and then I realized I was forgetting the good things that did. Let's hear yours.

The highlight of my yearling crop is this stakes filly who I'm pretty much in love with. I really wanted a good one from Aerovelocity's last crop, and this little lady's dam is my favourite thing forever, so yeah. Can't wait to see how she works.

A good number of my nice TS mares gave me allowances, and I've always been pretty okay with that, but even more so after last year's set of nice alws, some of whom worked faster than my stakes gallopers.

2YOs are looking good -- I poured some cash into the TBS sales last year and came out with two really nice-looking Stew-breds -- plus I have a handful of fast working homebreds that I'm really excited about. I have a SC runner-up 3YO at the head of my sophomore contingent. And I finally have a super good QH route mare.

My main man Strong and Free has pumped out another 15 stakes gallopers this season with a few left to go, including a Stew-bred, and his first crop runs this year, SO EXCITED! And my new B-stringer Loyal By Your SIde did well with all my B (okay, C)-string mares to give me nearly 32% alw, so pretty pleased about that.

Also excited to hopefully keep writing lots of articles this season and run my SC contest again -- really been enjoying both of those activities and they make me feel like I'm doing my part to give back to the game. Also can't wait to see how the year will play out for some of my favourite horses in other people's barns. Let's see some Red Balloon vs. Thunder Horse action already. Dancin Nancy vs. Across Time. Ok go!

See, there, I forgot about all the claimer yearlings for awhile. Life is good. Y52 is gonna be great!

Ok, I'll play...

Looking forward to this guy https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1041275, he's out of my only freak and Y49 SC Filly Turf Dash runner-up, Message in a Dream.

This guy https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1048085, is tied for the 2nd fastest 7f turf work for yearlings last year, so he should be fun.

Okay bred 77, 3 freaks, five stakes.. One of those freaks is a full sibling to Dancin Nancy, the 2 million dollar failure at the SC ,
https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1056012, then we have another SYM freak, another filly from a blue hen mare that has never done better than allowance https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1056019 though her male full sibling is an allowance horse with 240k in earnings.., then on the DS side, no krispy greatness this time around, but a WOG freak, another that has never bred better than anything allowance. So this my 2nd time that Ive bred full sibling freaks, though one didnt turn freak until 3, but this is the FIRST time Ive bred freaks from first gallop, so Nancy will have a little sister to keep on dancin with, also excited to see what this freak https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1014528 will do having done well in the workouts, nothing like Just Courage of course, but she has done well, we will see.. one of the stakes I am most interested is the one from the mare of Its All About You, an SYM male https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1056016 by far the best thing she has ever produced.. anywho, I cant complain.. though bein a bit low on funds I may sell some of the stakes guys, but thats for later..

I bred 39 mares, I had two sets of twins so 41 foals. This is my first season breeding.

2 stakes, 7 allowance, 13 productive.

So I like this little lady. https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1083990 Her name is “emsfullnhappy” I bred her while em was taking a break and eating weird frozen dinners of ziti and sorta meatballs during the live calls of the stewards cup races. So I named her “emsfullnhappy”. Her mom is a formidable. Pops is Hartnell. She is descended from perfectontheinside. She may be just an allowance but as a first year breeder I’m happy to have managed a couple stakes and my seven allowances.

I gelded 16 colts today. All productive, solids, and allowances. I had some luck with gp sires.

My two stakes are both fillies. I’m building a breeding barn so stakes fillies are want I was hoping for.

So my biggest surprise was that I actually bred 8 stakes TBs haha Over the moon about that! The one I was most shocked about was Schwanky, up till about a month or so ago I didn't know Holiday mare's could have foals better than productive ,then I learned they could throw allowance... She sure showed me! Now I know of 2 Stakes offspring from them! The Black Queen also was a surprise, she came out of a nothing special Formid with a B+ nick that I paid $500 for and raced a year :D Next is Short Fuse from a leased mare <3 Then there were the two I sold: Slow Down Girl and You Don't Know Me (funs from which I turned around and bought a 2yo TM Stakes Colt, see below!!). The last 3 Stakes are mare-lease-deal foals from Em, a DS, TM, and TR. (Y53 is going to ROCK)

Can I say it in all caps? I AM SO EXCITED FOR Y52! My very first homebreds hit the track :D I have 4 Stakes Mixers that all made it pretty high in the top 50 workouts. And as of today I have TWO Stewardbreds ready for mid season, a TM stakes filly and colt (who might get a new name...*gasp* :P) And that's not including my BOATLOAD of Allowance horses all ready to go as well! I also have 12 new Steeplechasers to run this year including a (still a) Freak filly!

Returning to the track after both achieving spectacular fails for their last races of the year ares my <3 TR Stewie colt, and my yummy TM filly lease. And my baby Cheer This Way who I bought my first week playing, she improved Solid to Stakes Y50/Y51 changeover and even though Dirt TBs aren't my thing she is super special to me. Even if I may have messed up her training already

Can I just list all my horses? I shamelessly love them all! <3 <3 <3

That Voodoo Youdo -Very excited about this freak out of my Ky Oaks winner!

This -This freak out of my 900k earning Stewie mare.

Also had This random freak dirt sprint colt.

And while I was hoping for a freak I'm in love with Her. She is stakes and out of my Oaks winner Hiding My Heart. Isn't she pretty??
