There was a Steward Bred turf miler a while ago who galloped different career at first but later went on to gallop allowance I think. But then again that’s a Steward bred

"Can" they improve? Of course. Any horse has a chance to improve, a little or a lot, whether randomly or as a result of being a late bloomer or whatever.
I'd say that a DC with a lackluster pedigree, as most DCs have, has very little chance of improving enough to be worth racing.
If you happened to have a DC with a real shiny pedigree, especially a router, it would be worth waiting on for awhile.
LONG OVERDUE FARM: Keepin' it Canada since Year 16.
Stallions to meet your every need. As long as you need a turf sprinter.

Thanks guys. The horse in question was born with only three legs, so I'll wait and see.

If it has chaser breeding then yes; definitely. The yearling gallop is pretty much meaningless; the 2yo ‘train over jumps’ will tell you what you really have.
"I was afraid of Gigi, it was true." Oh yes. Be afraid. Be very afraid...
"Gigi, you continue to impress the heck out of me." - The Steward. Okay, it was 10 RL years ago, but I'm keeping it.

True but I train my steeplechasers 7f on the turf and the ones that work 1:25ish are all chase freaks. This is why I am excited about Cathay Williams two babies. I believe they will both be at least chase stakes based on their workout times and Cathay did not bloodstock strong and her highest hypo was an A-.
