Kanashi Wau Park needs a change...

Post by Dylan Christensen »

...or at least in my opinion it does. It’s one of my favorite tracks to run at. It gives your hard knocking allowance horses and slower stakes horses a chance to win some more cash than they would anywhere else. The purses are higher and the horses are better but I feel the track is lacking something in the scheduling. The way the schedule currently is horse can either run every 2 weeks or 4 weeks within their conditions. For many horses a 2 week rest isn’t enough and a 4 week rest is to much so I propose a new schedule. As of right now there wouldn’t be enough horses to support a new schedule with more races to support 2 1/2 week to 3 week layoffs but I feel with these new rest options it would be much easier to bring more horses into run as they wouldn’t have to worry about lay-off times being awkward causing them to have to ship thousands of miles for a new race. Other people may disagree with a new schedule but I’m going to propose two possible schedules and see what people think.
Schedule A:
Nw2 Nw3-week 1 day 1
Nw4 nw5-week 1 day 5
Nw4 nw5-week 2 day 1
Nw2 nw3-week 2 day 5
Nw4 nw5-week 3 day 1
Nw2 nw3-week 3 day 5(week 1 day 1)
Nw4 nw5-week 4 day 1(week 1 day 5)
Nw4 nw5-Week 4 day 5(week 2 day 1)
Nw2 nw3-week 5 day 1(week 2 day 5)
...and so on

or

Schedule B:
Nw2 Nw3-Week 1 day 2
Nw4 Nw5-Week 1 day 4
Nw2 Nw3-Week 2 day 2
Nw4 Nw5-Week 2 day 4
Nw2 Nw3- Week 3 day 2
Nw4 Nw5-Week 3 day 4
...and so on

I’m sure there are other ways you could schedule it but this was my thoughts. 3 year olds and 4+ year olds would now run on the same nights with the same conditions each night rather than the 4+ year olds running day 2 and the 3 year olds running day 4. In my opinion the second schedule would work better but I’m curious what other people’s thoughts are on this. Please respond if you have any opinion whatsoever, thanks.

Also agree, it is fine as. The odd extra race adding maybe, but a big no to changing the schedule.

I think your idea has some merit Dylan but if your horse keeps progressing through the conditions it will naturally fall into a three week break. And if it isn't progressing might be worth shipping back to Alaska.

I would however be very okay with 2 year old condition races at KWP.

I can say I've also been frustrated with the 2 week thing for my somewhat unsound horses

This is mainly where my issue is. Someone said something about getting a three week break when a horse works through it's conditions but when they're never fully rested it's hard for this to come about.

That would mean no Asia races days 2 and 4, which is not acceptable.

It serves its purpose fine with the schedule as currently supported. No need to change.

I too would like a tweak to the Asia circuit, right now the racing there seems pretty spread out without a lot of race choices, maybe making Japan more of the hub for that circuit might help. Adding those condition races to the regular Japan tracks on days 1 and 5 would really help with scheduling, Kanashi Wau Park's higher purses would always be the preferred choice but having some extra races couldn't hurt.

Isn’t this why we have the ability to sponsor races?

It seems like considerable time and effort were expended to create his proposal. After reading and reflecting on the comments, however, I do not agree that additional NW races are warranted at this track.

Since the end of Year 52, the overall interest in the Sim has declined considerably. The number of players departing or scaling back has been considerable. In this climate, why make this comment towards a player who still has very high interest in the Sim?
