Alright. What do we do with partnerships?

They aren't always working as intended - friends owning horses together. But some people ARE using them as intended. Vote in the poll and comment below.

I guess another question is, are Steward-bred limits working as intended? Get rid of those and partnerships pretty much fix themselves.

Well...it would kind of suck if they were taken away. I own a piece of, and am in charge of racing, horses I’d never be able to even dream of owning for years 💔 (Dream Among Stars, Beware The Monster, Top Secret, even Tacitus.)

This year(?) was bad because it was a ton of small auctions so people were getting their 3 plus up to 6 more in partnerships. You said next year there would be larger auctions, making it so you’d have to buy pinhooks to max out partnerships.

Can we try that before we decide to get rid of them?

Or maybe we need to make it so stewardbreds have to be 2yo before you can sell them? I remember there was talk of something like that.

It takes years and years to build a stable to be successful...we all have done it the hard way, I think it takes away from the experience to just have those bloodlines just given to you. The sense of accomplishment comes from knowing you did this yourself and earned every bit of it. I've been in the SIM since Y35 and haven't won the big races yet, we all go through the struggle of earning enough SIM money to purchase that nice mare to build you SIM empire around, a foundation mare. Choosing the right sire to send her to and getting that beautiful foal, only to watch it be a monster on the track.

I've had a blast being in a partnership and would be super bummed if that feature was removed. So I guess that my answer is they are fine as is (aka other in the poll). I guess I just don't see why people are so against them; perhaps I haven't been a member of the sim for long enough to understand what makes them so unfair.

The best I can understand, the real concern with partnerships is that they are a vehicle/loophole to abuse certain rules (eg. steward bred limits and such). If so, then I'd rather eliminate those loopholes before doing away with partnerships completely. I don't know the best way to fix the loopholes (although I've heard several players make some suggestions and I'm sure we will get more suggestions in this thread) but there has to be a better way than just tossing all partnerships completely?

I love being my partnership, owning horses with friends is one of my favorite things. I honestly couldn’t care less if they were restricted so much to only being able to claim horses and no buying or selling any other way. I get that there have been issues and abuse but there is good in the partnerships that help build the community. I think it would be beneficial to just restrict them in a bunch of ways but if they have to be done away with than that’s that i suppose.

I voted for keep racing partnerships but don’t allow breeding. But on second thoughts, this doesn’t solve any problem at all as people are able to pass around a stud from one owner to the other, and book breedings to him for themselves. That way, a stud is used only by those specific people. So I don’t know, I’m out of ideas 🤷‍♀️ In that case, partnerships are fine I guess since even if you got rid of them the same problem remains.

To be fair, if partnerships are ended, the 20,000 GPs spent to create each one would need to be refunded. In addition, the remaining amount of SIMperior weeks that each partnership has would need to be refunded. Since GPs are not redeemable for cash, the refunded GPs would be transferred back to the partnership members.

Since there are 20 current partnerships, at least 400,000 GPs would need to be refunded. In addition, for each partnership with Simperior, at most 45,000 GPs for each would need to be refunded. I doubt if all 20 current partnerships have SIMperior and have just renewed at the maximum level. So the additional SIMperior refund might be just around 100,000 GPs.

From my understanding partnerships were created in the first place to legalize the sharing of horses by two or more players. Prior to partnerships it was frowned upon by the sim to share a horse.

Per the steward when partnerships were first created:
The Steward wrote: 6 years ago Think of it this way then: people have been splitting horses and other illegal things since the beginning of time. This is a way for the SIM to profit off of them doing this anyway, so we can make you new features. How about that angle?
Any other reasons why partnerships might have been created?

I'd say to do exactly what was said "twist the rules" or "cheat" as legal as possible

We decided to create a partnership to co-own a racetrack and maybe race some horses. We thought a third simperior account was too much to pay for those few horses so we stopped racing them. We had a little thought that board fees could be exchanged for GPs and used to renew part of the racetrack, but it didnt really work that well.
It is stated that no horse can leave the partnership within two years, but we found out that to be not quite true. It cannot be dissolved but it can be dispersed!
Using a partnership to co-own a racetrack is no good idea either if you dont log in to the partnership that often.
Luckily The Steward saved us since partnership rules are a bit vague about the 2 year rule. Thank you dearly beloved Steward!

As for now, we dont really have any good use of the partnership, but we have it together and it is a cool feature. If we find a really nice bargain at auction and we both want it, we can let the partnership buy it :)
