Awesome Races Thread

Post by Carole Hanson »

Has anyone else ever looked at a race they’ve entered and thought ‘wow this race looks pretty epic!’ but felt like posting a whole thread about it would be a bit silly?

Well I’ve created this thread (possibly in vain) so that people can post links to some awesome races they come across. I’m sure these races happen all the time and it would be cool to keep track of those. Perhaps it could even help a little with the betting side of the game.

Well, here’s my first entry to this thread:
https://www.simhorseracing.com/race.php?RaceID=1414532
Golden Gift Stakes (GI) 3yo+ fillies & mares, 1 1/4 Turf

With over a week still left to enter, this race has already attracted 4 millionaires, 5 Grade 1 winners and 2 Graded stakes placed mares. Certainly a tough prep for the SC F&M Turf!

This one immediately comes to mind 😅

Checked the race the night entries closed and realized my girl was running against TWO 800k earners 😱

I got feeling all brave when my Allowance filly won a G1...I entered her in two more, turns out Shallow and Billie Eilish should be avoided at all costs 😂

Ah yes, I recognise that first race ;) I'm praying Marsella somehow pulls off the win in the Hong Kong Distaff so that she can get to $1 million before she retires but that's unlikely to happen at this point. That filly seems to be rapidly improving though with 2 Grade 1 wins in a row so congrats!

This one ran last night and I entered in it when there were only 3 horses thinking it was easy money to make and then two of the top chasers decided to enter it....I figured I might as well go big or go home and try to run 3rd but to my surprise I won! It was definitely the (second)toughest race I've ever been in and the toughest race I've ever won!
yeah

I hope so too! As long as I don’t face her again, then I hope she loses :p

As for Here in My Heart, I probably jinxed her 😂 seems every time I talk about one of my “good” horses they all of a sudden become butts lol

Week 6, I pitted one of my 3 year old turf fillies, Roughian, against the boys in the Louisville Bunbury.
She finished 2nd by a neck after leading the race from the gate, beaten by Amy Bahama's fine colt, Take By Storm.

Louisville Bunbury

Well, I'm going to try another 3 year old filly, Foretold, against the boys...for a 2nd time now. She won the last time out against 3 year old colts in the Grade 1 Barbados 2,000 Guineas

Barbados 2,000 Guineas

I've placed her in the Grade 1, English St. Leger being run in London, on Friday.

English St. Leger

She happens to "like" wet tracks though, has never lost on a wet track. However, her 2 attempts on dry tracks were not good - finishing 6th, and 5th. This upcoming race is on a firm track, but I couldn't find her a Grade 1 race on a wet track...so, I decided to see if 3rd time's a charm. There are 3 Steward breds in this field (so far) of 6 horses... the other 3 horses, are all being raced by their breeders. : )

There is also, a filly and mare race - 3 years and up, that day, on that track, at 1 1/2 miles:

The Yorkshire One Thousand Guineas

It's also a Grade 1 and for the same amount of purse money...but I think I'll stick with racing her against 3 year olds, even if they are colts, over pitting her against older horses...which she will be doing soon if I put her into the Steward Cup race at the end of the year.

Rougian, btw, will be running Week 14 Day 5. I entered her into the Grade 1 Queen Mother Stakes (purse $300,000) for 3 year old fillies. Which is being run in Lexington, Kentucky.

Awesome little 2yo race with a very talented and well bred field. This will be a close one I think!

Of course the majority of SC races will be pretty darn awesome, but this one in particular stands out to me. Oversubscribed (which will surely make Em happy), 6 millionaires (2 multi millionaires), an Arc winner faces off against the winner of this race last year, 15 graded stakes winners (plus 1 on the AE list), 10 Grade 1 winners, lots of pretty broodmares!

This is the Stewards Cup Filly and Mare Dirt Mile, and I have been watching these races for a while, but this is by far one of the most competitive I have ever seen!
- 8 horses (6 Millionaires) 2 three year olds who are on their ways to be be millionaires!
- 1st + 2nd and 3rd from last years Stewards Cup race
- 3 Stewards Cup Winners
- 10 total top 3's in Stewards Cup races
https://www.simhorseracing.com/race.php?RaceID=1422450

I would like Zendaya to go out on a win, but its hard with that stacked a field!
