Loved the auction format

Post by Danny Derby »

I just want to throw out there that I loved the format of the most recent auction only allowing 1 bid at a time for each player. It made people really think about what they were doing, and kept one person from being able to crazily bid up prices on multiple horses. Hope to see more of this.

It also made it impossible for those who aren't as rich as some to win a horse as an underbid though.

As always there are pros and cons.

8 horses went for under $1M and many many more went for under $2M. I think it was extremely fair to players with lower bankrolls.

Could also argue that pinhooking makes it harder for those are aren’t rich to have a chance at winning horses.

I argue both points! Not happy with the 1 high 1 win or the limits being removed 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure that the prices had as much to do with the different format - it may have been due to the fact that this was the third TBS auction in a relatively short period of time. The second auction had 2 high, 2 win and fairly high prices as well.

I fondly remember when the SB auctions were awesomely fun from the opening bell. In contrast, the last 2 auctions were painfully boring with very little action except near their completions. By the end of the last auction, I no longer cared about the auction results -- i was just relieved that there would be no more SB yearling auctions this Sim year.

Agree! With the possibility of underbids the auctions are way more exciting. I honestly didn’t even realize the auctions had ended until people started posting their pinhooks minutes after.

I liked the formats! I just forgot about the End date for the last one.

I was not a huge fan of the format and much like others I put my bid in and went to sleep .
