I had 11 flat TBs improve to stakes from 500 or so 2yo+. One went from Allowance Peak to Stakes Peak! MAGIC!

Didn’t notice any improvers in my yearlings ☺️

When a horse improves, allowance to stakes, I'm thinking he was a top level allowance horse and now a low level stakes runner?

Also wondering, within each class division, are there 3 levels? Good, better and best?

Anyone have an idea if there is any validity to any of this? :?

I had About a handful go up from allowance to stakes. Since Things were tweaked to Show improvement more accurately I've had a very noticeable increase in stakes thoroughbreds, but so far None of them are any good. Before I never really had any horse improve by gallop and their racing reflected that.
Honestly I'd rather have no improvement shown when it's insignificant than getting my hopes up for nothing. But Maybe it's just my barn? Would like to hear if others experienced something similar.

I had several improve to stakes, and two improve to freak!

Valley Cat, Cat Named Boots' 3yo and Cat From Outer Space, Nyan Cat's 2yo are now freaks! And yes, this means my homebred sire Antares has freaks now! :D

Having thought about this, I recall someone mentioning, within each classification there is a range of 1-20. Therein lies the slide factor? My poor little brain can't handle all this critical thinking :ugeek:

My impression is that horses have an ability rating between 1 and 20 at every distance category/surface. The random slide is, I think, a maximum of two points in either direction?
Improvements can be anything from imperceptible to huge. That's half the fun. 😉

I had a few improvers, all older horses and no yearlings. I'm most excited about a DS filly that already won a stakes as an allowance and just jumped to stakes!

Not even sure why I'm curious about how it works? I guess that's the other half of the fun? Thanks, Laura :)
