Equipment Help

Post by Durzo Blint »

I have a horse who received this message when asked about equipment:

Y56-W1-D3 Trainer: I talked with Dr. Hacklu after he scoped 'Horse 58597780211', unfortunately it looks like you should definitely give a Lasix shot from now on. I think she needs one other piece of equipment too, but I don't think I can help you with that.

Here are her workouts:

SIM Date Distance Equipment Time
Year-56 Week-9 Day-1 4 furlongs. Dirt. l,tt 0:45.51
Year-56 Week-8 Day-1 4 furlongs. Dirt. hb,l 0:45.49
Year-56 Week-7 Day-1 4 furlongs. Dirt. fb,l 0:45.51
Year-56 Week-6 Day-1 4 furlongs. Dirt. l,tt 0:45.45
Year-56 Week-4 Day-7 4 furlongs. Dirt. l 0:45.82

Did I read the note wrong - is it a trainer piece I'm missing? Or should I continue to do workouts with these pieces?

Thanks a lot!

You need a vet piece. Basically just ask the vet about that horse until they give you the other piece

Hey, Durzo. You can either pay the vet until he coughs up the add'l training piece, like Brian said, or try doing workouts at a different distance, like 5f. That might help. The only other thing is to race and ask the jockey after each race until he confirms equipment is right. Hope you find it soon!

The second piece is a "vet piece" and by the looks of it, the Tongue Tie is your answer. So she would have Lasix and a Tongue Tie.

Tricky combination of workout times.
The horse's fastest work was with l,tt but when you did that the second time it was slower than the work with the hb,l and on par with the fb,l.
Is there something in the horse's training history that would explain the slower work on 9.1? Did you do anything in between 7.1 and 8.1 that
would make the 2nd fastest work slower than it should have been?

You may have to become your own Sherlock Holmes here.

Thanks for the advice all! At least I know it's a vet piece and will continue to just workout with these pieces until maybe one clearly reveals itself.

I have not done anything with the horse besides these timed workouts when they started.

Why not just vet the horse until you get the piece? It would save any ambiguity, and I think it's definitely worth it for a Steward-bred.

I never really vet a horse, unless I'm checking on health for a workout or race, which I rarely do - usually cause I'm poor

Thanks Dom! I just tried the vet 15 times, no dice. I’ll just have to be patient. Thanks again for the all the advice!
