Some of my first crop of TM yearlings got really fast Wk9 day 1 training times ...
A Frank Silence 11/224
Lanark Tigress 28/224
Good Beryl 35/224
Fastest of the lot has Frank Chilton as her namesake (because he's never silent ) so Frank continues to inspire this filly. They're all allowance gallops, two late bloomers and one progressive. Is this worth feeling excited about or will my hopes just be crushed later when they race?
Kalgoorlie Boulder 11/89
I also had a progressive claimer filly do well in the TR 7f list. Does she only look fast because most people use 6f for routers?

Re: Training Times: should I be happy?
Hey Gwen! For what it's worth, I've had many horses who work really quickly over the years completely crush my dreams, so I try not to get my hopes up about any of them anymore. Admittedly, I fail at this. To quote a favorite YA novel antagonist from my childhood, "a little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous."
A few things, here, just to add some context to your workout times. While they may be in a top percentile of horses working on that particular day, upon glancing at the top 50 yearling workout times for Year 56 for 4f and 7f, none of your horses' times appear there. I find looking at the horses on this list often provides the best glance into the crystal ball when scouting for future stars. To be blunt, your horses' times don't stand out compared to the entire TM pool. The same goes for your TR filly. However, there are other variables that can influence their future. Maybe they'll improve when the year turns over, or maybe they'll be a first-start improver. Anything can happen, and that's what I love about the sim, but I try to never count on anything like that happening. Try to stay positive, though.
Regarding router times, the majority of people work their horses at 5f.

Never look at the list for the day, that tells you absolutely nothing. Gotta see if it's in the Top 50 for the year for your distance/gender. Based on that, I wouldn't get your hopes up too much on any of these as they stand now barring an improvement.

Okay thanks.
I figured this would be the case. This was the first time I looked at training times and I clearly looked at the less useful page.
