If Witted does win this time, I’m totally blaming Tim for all the times he’s lost 🤣

I just listened to the last two podcasts. I feel so relevant with the positive mentions of As People See Me in the Saudi Cup and Wonderful Saint in the Derby Trail. It just makes an already fun listen even more fun.

PS The Southern California Derby just got tougher for Wonderful Saint with the addition of Arizona. Gotta beat the best to be the best.

I’m still blaming Tim. He was clearly up in the photo finish tower doctoring the result. You guys all saw him there right?

The thing that makes it bearable is the winner was a Conquerer colt so my boys sired the exacta. That’s kinda cool.

The Morning Line Episode 24 - The Louisville Derby Deep Dive Feat. The Steward

Post by Nini Panini »

You think you’ve heard train wreck episodes before? Well, hold on to your hats folks, because they’ve got nothing on this Derby Deep Dive!

On this episode, we welcome the lovely Steward to join us for the beginning of this episode for some Derby thoughts, share some breaking news, and talk about some other Week 6 Day 5 races. Then, we battle through technical difficulties to evaluate every single horse in the field and then some.

We also have an unexpected guest and go perhaps further off the rails than ever before, so it’s a fun one! We hope you have fun listening, because we sure had fun recording!

Happy racing and good luck Week 6 to all!

So I'm listening to the current podcast just to hear what is being said about Wonderful Saint and what happens, Tim Matthews happens, sheesh! It's actually fun to see that people have not lost their senses of humor during these less than fun real life days. And Nini's "you go Keith Maidlow..." shout out re: my dirt router "success" was taken as it was meant, as a compliment. I feel very fortunate to have had Fancy Shoes, As People See Me and now Wonderful Saint especially with the limited number of horses in my barn (usually less than 50). I think I have another one waiting in the wings with two year old freak, Run Like a Thief who is anxiously waiting for week 10.

Thanks for the fun podcast! Should be a very exciting Derby!

The Morning Line Year 57: Louisville and Dubai Previews

Post by Mara Jade Vess »

After last week’s train wreck of an episode, we come back on a quick turnaround to look at the other races that will be called W6D5! In this episode, we rapid-fire preview each field give our picks for every race sans the Derby, and Nini tries to add a phrase to the English language.

Happy Week 6 and good luck to everyone!

The Morning Line Episode 26: Year 57 Baltimore Previews

Post by Nini Panini »

It's one of those days. The kind where everything is moving in slow motion. No matter, we still bring you a look at every single horse racing in the Baltimore G1's this Friday. There are several horses featured with names from musicals and while this is horrifying for Mara, Nini couldn't be happier. You might want to lower your volume.

5000 points for the intro music and for singing the name of my poor, sad girl and saying nice things about her. Maybe one day she'll get a fast pace to close into

The Morning Line Episode 27: Distance is a Myth feat. Tim Matthews

Post by Mara Jade Vess »

Distance is not real. We are a mess. "Carole Hanson" makes an appearance. There is an impostor among us. This is certainly our worst work to date, and we loved every second. Somewhere in there, we talk about the Week 9 Day 5 broadcast races - the London Oaks, London Derby, Louisville Classic, Long Island Acorn, and Long Island Classic.
