Bad Starts
I have a horse who has started five times. Their five breaks to begin races are
1. Broke Outward
2. Steadied Start
3. Sluggish Start
4. Broke Inward
5. Fell to Knees
When your best start is a steadied one, you have a problem. Is there anything I can do to improve this. I have already worked them in the gate twice. I don't know if anything can be done or it's just bad luck.

Some horses start slowly, as some do in rl.

Is the horse tired? How often is it running?

Check the equipment?
Re: Bad Starts
It is a very high quality horse and it is very sound and running every 2-2 1/2 weeks with proper equipment and a pet. It has been very successful and I'm not complaining, it's just frustrating to start poorly, EVERY single time. I will get over it,

Starts in the SIM are all luck. Lots of bad luck in a row is all this is

Only a newer player view .
Would stalls training play any part in your issues?

Re: Bad Starts
This Hall of Famer also had a lot of bad starts -- especially "broke outwards" -- and gate training didn't help.

Re: Bad Starts
Gate training gives the horse some experience, but bad luck is something separate, so gate training would not help with that. The Harlequins wrote: ↑3 years ago Only a newer player view .
