For sure. I’m complaining about everything and trying to not poke at anyone in particular.

There was at least one stud last year that was booked full at time of release and never reopened or finished out their full book.

I think I know what stud you’re talking about and I actually messaged said owner and was given a breeding...wasn’t hard.

I think I agree with Rochelle here. Stallion owners can and will do what they like, and Em has no control over that. If the Edge goes up and the stallion owner holds back available spaces in response (maybe the owner doesn't have time to consider fee increases right away and just needs a temporary stopgap?) then what is Em supposed to do about that? Take down the edge? Write a new one? Badger the stallion owner?

I have never had a problem with either a) booking, putting the stallion in my alerts, and breeding later or b) sending a nice message to the stallion owner, not necessarily asking for a spot, but just inquiring as to if/when he might open back up again to the public as I have (insert nice mare name) to send to him.
If somehow neither of those things works, the information in the stallion article is still useful for planning breedings and just general knowledge. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe I'll go find the horse's half brother and breed to him instead.

I don’t feel like this fits any of the recently featured stallions with no open slots.

I do think that recently the Edge has featured a lot more "obvious" horses than those diamonds in the rough types.

As for private stallions, it's just very frustrating. In the help section, under breeding, it states:
"Do I have to ask permission to use a stallion?
You do not need to ask permission to breed to any of the stallions. The money from the stud fee will be automatically deducted from your account and given to the stallion owner."

This is clearly no longer the case. Plus, what's stopping someone from never opening up their super stallion to anyone and sending them their own mares? In a division like DR this might not matter as much because you have other options, but say a division like AWS had a DMB type, that division is thin enough that the stallion owner in that case could potentially dominate the division.

I personally like what Lucas said, if you have one of those freaky stallions, set him at a high fee. Then you're far more likely to have good mares visiting him. With a lucrative stud like that, investing in more spots is easily done and very affordable. And it's not like this will not allow you to give out spots or discounted breedings to players who may be less fortunate and might not be able to afford your stud outright.

All
My studs are open and I personally find it silly to do what Laura is doing with her stud Storm if 300 people want to breed to him so be buy more slots use the exchange it’s pure profit !
I personally will never use Storm again like I have in the past he may get 1 mare a year from me in the future if he is managed the way he is because there is so many amazing studs out there to support

When it comes to percentages I look at things different I subtract the steward breds and then look how many million dollar earners the stud has or the total amount of stake and freak.
A stud could have 10 mares sent to it get a random slide freak and be at ten percent does not mean that stud is better then the one that has 300 foals and 20 freaks .

I must have missed something because Storm was open when I sent a mare to him a few hours ago but was at 145/150. I do wish we'd get some less obvious horses listed. I used to love when a diamond in a rough type that no one knew about was featured. I just assume when an already known stud is listed, that means the less obvious studs suck 😅

Only like 5 slots at a time get opened so if your a player that wants to breed a bunch in a day he is useless to you .

Some of my best horses in recent years were because the stallion I wanted was restricted book so I did some research and went to another stallion.

The benefits of SIMperior have increased over time. But I do not recall the last time that the price of SIMperior has increased in price. Does anyone recall when was the last price increase?

I usually release 20 or so spots every two-three weeks, because I don't like to go above 180 spots, since we have limits. That seems a fair way of spreading the spots out throughout the SIM year and usually helps keep the stallion's stats higher than if I had a book of say, 300.

It seems counter-intuitive to have limits, but then also have game-sanctioned work arounds that make limits meaningless. I had opened up another 5 spots when I saw this thread, but won't open more until Week 2. As usual, if someone has a top caliber mare and have trouble getting to one of my popular stallions, please contact me and we can work something out. There have been several people I've told that if they haven't gotten to a particular stallion by the beginning of Week 16, I'll send them a reservation. Most of the time, they haven't needed it.

I get that isn't how everyone plays, which is part of the beauty of this game, but it works for me. Part of me still would like to see limits done away with; part of me gets the need to encourage diversity.

Some people don’t want 300 foals from their stallions each year 🤷‍♀️ If I had a popular stallion I don’t see myself opening more than the standard slots in a year. Even if it would make me millions, I would rather encourage diversity in the division...but maybe that’s just me.
