It's level of soundness may have played a part?
not sure, but the rating is just sound, not very sound. I think sometimes you try to follow a pattern of rest but I think there are cumulative things that happen where 2 weeks rest earlier in the year is not the same as 2 weeks rest later in the year depending on how many races have happened before..

Going through my barns today and I just have to say, I had way more late bloomers stay in their gallop this year and I do not approve 🤣

That "productive bloomer" to "productive peak" moment is perhaps not the most thrilling part of gallops :lol:

I had a quartet of 2-year-olds improve from Stakes to Freak.

Seeyoulateralligator went from productive bloomer to allowance peak last week.

I don't think he's an allowance anymore.

This 3 year old went from Stakes/late bloomer to Freak/Peak

Sort of hard to tell right now so I think I'll stick to conditions.
