Gallop Improvement

Post by Emily Mitchell »

With week 9 coming up - Is there a fixed distance a horse can improve/worsen from their current gallop comment? I know comments aren't the end all be all BUT just curious as I had Volt jump last year to a freak from an allowance - but I usually only see a single step improvement not two.

Just wondering if it's possible to be a solid for instance and jump to a freak? Or is it set with limitations?

I've had claimers go to freaks, so anything is possible.

Promises Kept went from productive to freak.

I have had one going from claimer to stakes.
(and I would have had one going from claimer to freak hadn't I pensioned her early)

I had a solid go to stakes and that was like 7 sim years ago and she would have guaranteed been an allowance now 🤣

There is always hope!

I had a Claimer Late Bloomer become a Stakes Late Bloomer Week 9 last year.

I had never seen that happen before. I'm curious to see if she'll still be able to improve this year, as I didn't think that would be possible...

That is definitely possible! I had a stakes late bloomer go Freak Late Bloomer, then Freak Peak

I was thinking of just running my horses to see if they improved. Not sure if there is a way i can tell as i have plenty that go from 50sf to 70s and back on a whim with same rest

144 claimers, 33 late bloomers
187 late bloomers

I always wait until week 9 day 1 to see the possibly changed gallops... I can never keep straight when exactly it's ok to gallop and I know "week 9" is 100% safe lol
