Frustrating Freaks.

Post by Stormy Peak »

I have one, who, while not exactly failing...hasn't gone the way I hoped...and she keeps teasing me with flashes of talent....then nothing.

Extreme Ways

:D She was born a 'freak late bloomer' and after the short 2 year old season that all routers have...
at age 3 (week 1) she hit freak Peak

:D ~She's raced 8 times -- ~Won 5
But no 2nd or 3rd place finishes.

It's like all or nothing with her as far as hitting the board, -- 8: 5:0:0
but at least she's won money in every race, snagging 4th and 5th spots.

She won her second G1 last night, so I'm happy there...but I had such high expectations for this filly when she trained to be a freak late bloomer as a yearling...and then she peaked right at the start of her 3 year old season. Well, at least now, I feel like she's earned that beautiful headshot, in having two G1 races under her belt. : )

I just hope she can ride out that 'peak' status into her 4th year. I have at least found out that after they peak...they can, sometimes, race a season or two before their performance really drops.

My only TB Freak (possibly my only ever HB TB Freak):
Stakes/Late Bloomer - Freak/Late Bloomer- Now Freak/Peak
Broke her maiden with a 99 SF - nothing even close ever since

I don't think it could hurt to try her a little longer. Maybe 1 1/4? Nothing else is working so it really can't hurt to give it a go! I have 3 just like that sadly lol

Thank you, Louise. I was thinking about doing that. Seemed like every longer 3 year old race that I looked at had much better horses in it. I'll have to look a little closer or sponsor one maybe. :-) Worth a shot.
